Well 1st you did quit smoking you just didn't quit nicotine...unless you're vaping zero nic. Now I'm not sure how you'd term it then. In answer to your question to me they're a vaper.

Of course, me too.. but to the people who insist I'm still a smoker this might be different. Or do they just get angry because their logic is flawed, like killing a robot with a logic loop?

I'm in a research-related field, so when no meds were working right for me I did a LOT of research about alternatives for the problems I was having. A friend I mentioned all of this to said that smoking helped her with some of the same problems so I did some research on nicotine and found that several studies proved its safety and efficacy over pharmaceutical alternatives. I borrowed a smoking friend's njoy and the rest is history so far. :)

@master of chaos No you didn't seem like a troll to me there was something different about your posts in comparison to a troll...with them somthing usually doesn't seem right even to me lack of social skills and all

@ still alive and Buzzkill I have Aspergers and ADHD amongst other Co-morbid disorders and vaping makes a huge difference granted I am apparently missing some of the other chems from the smoking(2 or more packs a day)but the alternative is ghastly, in the last few months before I went to vaping I would wake up and cough for over1/2 an hr or more...

If they want to call us smokers, I don't really care. I think most doctors understand the difference and that's all that really matters. If my mom finds out and decides I'm now a "smoker", it will cause a definite strain in the relationship, but in the long run, people need to mind their own business if another person chooses to do something they don't approve of. Educate people about the dangers of whatever they're doing, sure, but chances are they already know, and if they're only hurting themselves, shut up. :p

I would love to see my smoking friends turn to vaping 90% of the time or more, simply because they are all awesome people and I want them around at least as long as I'm around! But I understand that vaping is pretty complicated, and some people can't make it work for themselves, and I respect that other people have the choice to smoke (as long as it's not in an airplane or whatnot, heh).

I agree with you stillalive, people have the right to smoke and as long as they're not blowing it in my face, I think they should be able to make their own choices.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to turn every smoker in the world into a vaper, but I want *them* to make the choice, not me.

And the thing about having smoking friends, of course you are right, but speaking as a non-smoker who had smoking friends, it was MUCH nicer for me when they converted to vaping. Again, that was their choice of course, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was VERY happy when they switched over, for a lot of reasons, not all of them unselfish.

thumbs up, MasterofChaos.

I wonder if there would be reason to create a safe-space subforum for zero-nic non-ex-smokers? And the different issues they may face- a place for them not to get attacked and chastised or called trolls? I think there would be reason to have such a place, where they can talk about non-smoking backgrounds and not be attacked by people scared, or angry, or otherwise judgmental of them.

Anyone else think such a safe space would work?

Or would it just be looked at by many as fodder for the FDA to ban vaping?

I just can't see why any vaper should be chastised for not smoking prior to vaping.
I'd think anyone would be happy that they chose a safer alternative to smoking by vaping and if they chose to use 0 nic, why is that anyone's business #1 and #2 why should you{anyone} be upset by this anyway?
How or why do people keep saying "Nicotine is harmless" {I believe it is} and then be ...... off by someone who didn't smoke before vaping?
They are adults for God's sake!

Okay, as some of you may have noticed from my previous posts, I am a non-smoker (never smoked in my life) who enjoys vaping 0 nic juice (I find it relaxing, it gives me something to do while I'm on the computer).

I have had several people accuse me of being a Troll. Why is that? Is, or was, there some issue with people coming on the ECF and claiming to be non-smokers and posting with nefarious purposes?

I would be interested in some insight from experienced ECFers as to why that is the case.

BTW, I am NOT a Troll, and never have been, I want to state that for the record!

Dear Troll

In this day and age, anyone that is not like me is something to fear, we no longer like individualism we want everyone to be clones and we fear anyone that is not.

Are you a different color than I am? Run away! Your entire race is inherently bad!
Do you believe in a different religion? OMG run for your lives! The anti-myreligon is among us!
Are you a different orientation than me? Call the police! OMG hide the children!
Different political party? You must be either a communist or a fascist! ( depending on party )

The same goes with us, most of us are ex-smokers and we are very very fearful of anyone that is not a clone of ourselves.

Individualism went out in the 60's when you had to wear a hippie uniform to be different.

( this post was of course meant in humor, I’m only saying that because sarcasm is sometimes difficult to detect on the internet )

Sidetracking to the tangent discussion of getting non-smokers to vape... My boyfriend has never been a "smoker", but he will take a drag or two off someone's cigarette (including mine) occasionally, esp when drinking. I wanted to quit smoking and I am pretty sure he wanted to me to also (he never said anything about it or complained, but let's face it, smokers stink, esp to non-smokers). He was the one who turned me on to vaping again (I used to have a Blu and, of course, it was crap and never helped me quit) because he had been reading about PVs with manual buttons, etc. I found these forums, started reading and bought a 510. Since then, I've purchased an Ego-T, countless supplies and a whole tackle box full of liquid (and have still spent less money than I would have if I were still smoking). My boyfriend loves my PV, he hits it all the time and is now looking to buy his own. I won't discourage him, because when he's not with me and my PV, he's probably taking a drag off of someone else's cigarette.

Thank you Shannon, I appreciate that!

I have, however, had several people accusing me of being a Troll, and I've seen them accuse others, too.

Cil, AFAIK, vaping is harmless. Okay, you can argue back and forth about the "evils" of nicotine, but you take
the nic out, and really all you have is an inhaler.

Plus all the ingredients in E-juice are FDA (and, in canada, HC) approved.

You're a non smoker who enjoys vaping... and you're the first non-smoker I know that is vaping :) I believe many people may have started smoking because they were bored and it was something to do. And I think it's great that you decided to try vaping instead of smoking. Good for you! I'm curious about how you started vaping. Do you have friends that vape?

At any rate, welcome to the vaping fold :)

I would never think you're a troll! As many have said, I'm sure it's just twitchiness regarding possible bans and all... but all of us have the right to choose what we do, arguably even more so as consenting adults. I will also not be the first person to say this but when you consider the legality of products such as tobacco and alcohol (alcohol being one of the most dangerous substances on earth to become addicted to!) the fuss put up over vaping is just ridiculous. All I have to say is welcome to the wide and wonderful world of vaping, I'm glad you've decided on an alternative to analog cigarettes and I am also glad you have made what I find to be the right decision as a non-smoker to be vaping zero nicotine juice. I also greatly appreciate your honesty. On this forum it can be hard to identify as a non-smoker entirely or even as a smoker who hasn't entirely kicked the habit. So I commend you for owning it!

Delilah,

Yes, my best friend used to be a heavy smoker (and it was killing him!) and he switched to vaping in Feb of 2010. After watching him for months I decided to try it out to see what all the fuss was about.

I find it very relaxing when I'm working (let's face it, all of us desk jockeys know how boring it can get sitting next to a computer all day), it gives my hands something to do other than typing. Plus its less destructive than chewing all the ends off of my pens. Its a very interesting hobby (I enjoy all the technical stuff) and I am becoming quite proficient at blowing vape rings!

I'm not into the nicotine and I don't think I ever will be. I just enjoy the taste of, and playing with, the vapor.
