Hi, I made the switch to e cigs 3 weeks ago and I'm not looking back! These things are fantastic! My baccy is sat in the shed and will stay there, or get binned!

Now, as a novice, I've jumped in and spent rather a lot, about £150, I've bought a sunrise, a smoke relief kit and a green smoke kit. I love them all and flit between them throughout the day. Thanks to this forum I've found there is so much more out there, but I've no idea where to go next. I have bought some e-juice to try refilling my sunrise cartridges and this seems quite good, but I'd like to try a purpose made re-fillable unit? I've read on the forum about the ego, is this a good place to start?

I'm UK, so would like to source from here. Long battery life is preferable and charging on the go like my smoke relief kit?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there....Congrats to you!! That is just fantastic..* There will be lots of people stopping in to give you some advice I am sure. Yes..usually many people go from the 'little ones that are the size of a cig to the larger one...I am a 'newbie' myself so I'll let the experienced ones come to you...good luck to you.. take care....* PS also pop in and out of the 'what's new' tab on the top left..there are 'suppliers' posts' and 'today's post' ..both have lots of info and people to ask as well...:)

Hello & welcome MrClive :)

Sounds like you have paid far too much for the kits you have bought so far :(

Yes, the ego/Riva sized e-cig is brilliant. I always recommend this kit due to price, brilliant customer service & if you ask at check out for the atomisers to be swapped for cartomisers, you will receive 10 cartomisers with the kit - use discount code ECF10 for 10% off -

I"m unfamiliar with the kits you ordered, but I'm assuming they are all 808s (mini-cigs). Before you go and spend more money, you'd be better off figuring out what you want and need out of your next device. Then start shopping!

Also, you need to understand the nomenclature:
Mahm - battery size. A rule of thumb is 100mahm = 1 hour of vaping. This isn't actually accurate (it depends on what you using on it, vaping style, etc.). But 1 absolute: the more mahm, the longer it can go before needing to be recharged.
Volts - the amount of power the battery puts out.
Ohm - the amount of resistance the device has.
Amps - the amount of heat generated. You calculate amps usinig the following formula:

Amps= volts/ohms.

The best analogy I've seen on this subject:

Consider your water supply. Mahms would be the size of your tank. Ohms would be the size of the water pipe, and volts would be the water pressure. The smaller the pipe, the more difficult it is to push the water through it. That would be analogous to amps.
In our situation, the more amps, the more heat. The more heat, the more vapor (all else being equal). You can definitely overdo it (which is why you shouldn't run a 1.7ohm caromizer on a 5v device; you're likely to fry the carto, the battery, or both!)
Also, I'm finding that juice tastes different at different amps.
Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the quick replies, i can see I've got a lot of homework to do! I'm glad to see the back of smoking without actually giving up! I never thought it was possible to quit without quitting! How great's that?!

If I now vape for the rest of my life, so what? It seems harmless enough, correct me if I'm wrong?

I'm looking at a kit from 'totally wicked', they look like what i need, a big nic fix with plenty of vapour. Easy access to spares and accessories, which is a must.

Thanks again!

Hi chrissie, just been checking out the riva kit and it looks like what I'm after. Many thanks for that.

Something else I'm noticing with cartridges is that the flavour is gone quite quickly, you're then left with a disgusting flavour of yuk. Plenty of kick, but a foul taste. So I end up wasting a lot of the cartridge as it gets binned long before it's empty. Am i right in assuming that a kit that uses bottles of juice won't do this, the flavour will last until it's empty?

Sounds like you aren't topping up your cartridges/cartomisers often enough. Also, don't forget, if you are using cartomisers, they are meant to be disposable, so after several refills, they wont be as good as new.

yes, that Riva I linked to with a 100mAh battey, should give you at least 8 hours between charges.

wow sounds extreme to get so many devices but i dont know if i done the right thing i got my unit from vaporleaf.com i got the joye 510 manual model which only cost 27 dollars and some change but i bought a nice travel case some e liquid and a drip tip which total with shipping only hit me for a grand total of 43 bucks and some change and then i went to vaporbomb.com and got me some e liquid in the flavors i thought i would like i got three bottles which are only 5ml i figured i would get the small bottles till i find a flavor i really like and then get the big bottles of it but i guess my grand total is still right at 60 bucks and i have been analog free since i got my unit ten days ago. which doing the math is still cheaper then other method i have tried ( gum, patches, lozenges ect... ) hopefully someone can post and let me know weather i made a good choice on the device i got or not thanks again everyone

I'm a noob too but I agree with the Riva choice. I have only one e-cig (so far) and it's a Riva 510 SE and I love it. The starter kit, a drip tip, and couple of bottles of e-liquid set me back right at $50 (U.S) and I haven't looked back since. I am very satisfied with my first purchase and I recommend this PV for your consideration.

I guess i panic bought a bit, but hey Ho, if I'm gonna live longer, then I can live with that. Hoping my riva turns up tomorrow, after that it's a big pair of batteries (links please!) And then a tank? One of these big all day long jobbies (more links, please!).

It'll be a month, on monday, since my last analogue, I can't believe how easy the transition was!

Cheers for now.
