Noob in NY here!

Hi,
I've been lurking your forum for a couple of weeks and today I signed up, so this is my first post.
I am an accidental ex-smoker!
I smoked for 30 years (started when I was ten) but health issues this past year forced me to "quit", meaning that everyone thought I quit but I was really just smoking secretly and it was a real hassle. One day, about 2 weeks ago, I decided to try one of those Blu disposables that they sell at the local grocery store here, just to have a 'fix' for when I cannot sneak away for a ciggy, and I immediately PREFERRED it to my Parliaments! I took a few days to finish up my last pack of analog butts, and the last one felt like a chore, I was so happy to be rid of them! I've been off the stinkies completely for a little over a week now and have tried out some different disposable e-cigs, liking almost all of them better than actually smoking. BUT since nobody knows that I was still smoking, nobody knows that I am vaping and nobody knows that I just totally quit smoking by accident. LOL I don't know if I will invest in a kit or anything at this point, because a disposable lasts a few days and I use it less than the analogs, so I might be able to taper off at some point, but I have been reading threads here for a while and figured I should sign up so I can say hello & thank you for all of the great info you provide to everyone who stops by.
I can't believe I am free from ciggies after being shackled to them for 3/4 of my life! All because I bought a Blu. I got a Logic disposable from the gas station which I like even better, and a bunch of different kinds in the mail that I do not like as much.
My husband still smokes cigarettes, but I got him a couple of disposables to try, telling him about how some folks prefer them. I used to go crazy when I smelled smoke on him since I could not easily just go out and have a .... anymore, but now it doesn't bother me like it used to. Hooray for the inventors of the disposable e-cig and whoever though to put them where people like me could easily find them or I'd be secretly smoking to my grave.
Now I wonder if I can muster the courage to come out of the closet about my vaping or if it will remain a secret habit like the smoking was? Oh well, at least I don't have to go through a huge procedure to de-stinkify if I go and sneak a couple of puffs of vapor the way I had to with smoke!

Welcome to ECF, Kitty, and congrats on what seems like an easy transition to vaping! I had to be a closet smoker at work, and trying to hide the stench was a HUGE hassle, especially since I probably wasn't 100% successful. Now, I don't care if I smell like mint or a fruit salad :D

I'm glad you found the forum! Cheers, and happy vaping :toast::vapor:

Welcome to the forum, Kittybear! Always nice to meet another "accidental quitter" :)

Your story is my story and, I suspect, the story of lots of vapers who tried ecigs without intending to quit nicotine but who ended up quitting smoking. I was astonished that it happened. Now I'm just delighted.

You've no doubt seen advice here about making the switch: There are no rules. Whichever way works for you is the right way. Whichever device/flavor keeps you off cigarettes is the right device/flavor for you. Tons of information here on devices, should you decide to start experimenting with the hundreds (thousands?!) of devices and e-liquids on the market.

Whether you decide to "come out" as a vaper is a decision only you can make. I guarantee you'll get lots of advice on that subject too!

Right now, congratulate yourself that you've already made the most important decision: to vape instead of smoking.

Hope to see more of you here in the future! Ask questions, tell us about your experiences, hang out...

Also, don't keep it a secret, unlike smoking, its nothing to be ashamed of :D

Vape proudly with consideration of others, as a I am still so lucky to be able to vape at my desk.
Making sure I offend no one. Or shall I say in my cubicle.....

Welcome and enjoy your vaping journey.......................... ;)

First off,,,Welcome from one Noob to another. Congrats on finding something that helped you get rid of the stinkys. I can relate to the closet vaper thing as I was also a closet smoker. Stopped for almost 10yrs & restarted about 6yrs ago. Closet smoker since then. I also tried the disposables & found them lacking but they were my gateway to kicking the analogs. Whether you stay with the disposables or something else, there is a wealth of information to help you decide. Keep it up!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I am still tobacco free! I think it's been over 3 weeks now since I put out my last stinky. :)
I'm doing fine except that my disposable e-cigs always run out it seems way too fast and I can't invest up front in something better - yet. I like the Blu disposables but they are like crack or something because once I start puffing it I have a hard time putting the danged thing down! Logic platinum gives a better 'fix' for me but I have to go outside, not indoor vaping with that one because it does leave a smokey smell in enclosed areas. I bought an Enjoy red last night, barely got 10 puffs from it before it started blinking, what a waste of money!
I foolishly bought a bunch of cartridges for Logic thinking that they'd screw onto the thing I had, but it turns out that what I need to use them is the stater kit, which I found out they carry at the smoke shop in town so i guess that's what I'm gonna do.
I notice that in my pile of spent e-cigs of all kinds of brands that if they sit dormant for a day or two I can actually drag a puff off of 'em once in while, I wonder what the deal is with that?
I came out of the closet to husband about my vaping (he still smokes stinkies) so I don't have to hide it and that has been good for me but just like with smoking I won't let my kids see me doing it. Walking my dog is soooo much less stressful with an ecig in my hand! I always smoked when walking the dogs so doing that with an empty hand was no fun at all. LOL
I barely miss smoking cigarettes at all except for the fact that one can never tell till it's too late that an e-cig is about to run out whereas with regular butts you could easily see how much was left. I suppose that's not a problem people have once they go 'pro' with a kit though, right?

Kitty,

Congrats on switching.
I recommend getting a VAMO V2, 2x 18650 battery, a cheap battery charger, and 2x 6mil Cartomizer Tanks, and 8x two hole or three hole cartomizers.

This will improve your experience 10 fold. You then can load up a tank with a juice flavor of your choice (order from Mount Baker Vapor), and it will last you all day. The vamo will power the tanks, and you can see how low you are on juice by using tanks.

Watch igetcha69, and pbusardo, and grimgreen on youtube. They are the bigger if not most prolific reviewers on the web for ecig stuff.

War and Peace,
GoDOWaR
