Hello. I am looking to upgrade from the setup I am using. I am currently using the Ego CE4 nicofresh.



Im looking to upgrade to a ileaf 30w or 50w. Just wondering if people could give me some information on it and also what would the difference between the 30w and 50w make ( see I'm a complete noob ) also I will probally get the nautilus mini to go with it. Just wondering if that would be a good one to start with or if I should look at other options.

Also ( again me being a noob ) what should I do about coils and what not.

Just looking for information, I have been looking around but thought I would just start a thread to see if any body can help me with what I have said above.

Please don't slate me as I'm only new to the vaping world and I just want to learn as I go along. Thanks for reading and helping.

IMO it would be best to avoid that 50w iStick, the 30w is great however

Both of the iSticks are relatively equal, the 50watt has a bit more power and more charge than the 30w. The 30watt is a bit more stable in the QC department, the 50watts had some issues the first few batches released, haven't seen much problems in the past couple months, but I would still be cautious of who I bought a 50watt from, smaller less known vendor is more likely to have a 50watt in stock that is of the early batches released, where a larger more well known vendor will have more current up to date stock. For the price of the 30watt though you can get an iStick40watt TC, same size as the 30watt just an extra 10watts of power and more current temperature control capable, all three though are great steps up and very expandable as you progress.

The Aspire Nautilus and Nautilus Mini are great tanks in themselves, still one of the few basic clearomizers being produced on the market, one of my highest suggested combinations is an iStick30w with a Nautilus Mini, the Nautilus is a real shining performer in the 12 to 20watt range with the airflow adjustment to suit the wattage range. Getting into variable power and variable airflow from a set regulated single output range, have to remember to prime your coils correctly, saturate the juice inlets of the coil head, and drip some liquid down into the coil assembly, assemble the filled tank and base together, let it sit upright for about 5 (thinner liquids) to 10 (thicker liquids) minutes before firing the coil on a fresh coil, and take several unfired primer puffs before you do to dislodge any air pockets. Next step set the power output to around 5 to 6 watts, then gradually over 20 to 30minutes of use bump the power up in stages to break the coil in properly, also when dealing with variable power, start low power, take a couple puffs, bump up the power a watt or two in stages until you get the flavor you like, get any type of dry or harsh hit, bump it down a couple to few watts, mark down the final wattage setting for that liquid as the sweet spot for it with that tank.

Early batches of the iStick 50 had issues. iStick 50 Exploded I don't know if the recent batches have corrected the problems.



My sister bought her first iStick 30 about a month ago. Within a week, the circuit board failed. She couldn't make the 3 hour round trip back to the vape shop where she purchased it from (had to be exchanged in person), so she purchased a second one from another vendor online. Within two days it fell two feet from the coffee table and broke into several pieces.

Personally, I would give the Joyetech EVIC VTC Mini a close look.

Pretty much what @Baditude said. I've never been too fond of the iStick models because of the lack of quality. I personally purchased a lower wattage mod a few months ago because I wanted a smaller device for the summer to carry around in my pocket. I bought the Sigelei 30W for like $35 or something? It's worked fantastically since I bought it and it uses an external battery that you must purchase separately (Samsung 25r's are great batteries). This is good because if the battery ever dies, instead of having to buy another $30+ mod, you can simply buy an $8 battery. The battery compartment is also enclosed with magnets, so you don't have to worry about using a screwdriver or cheap screws that strip. You can also charge this mod with it's USB charging that I've had zero issues with. However, DO NOT vape with this mod while it's charging. It does not support pass thru charging and can eventually lead to the mod malfunctioning and giving you problems. The cord that charges the mod that comes with it is very short, so you shouldn't feel tempted.

I only use a few 'mod' brands these days.

Eleaf, Sigelei and Kanger. (oh and a Gold mini Cloupor..)

Out of the iSticks, the 30w is my favourite. If you need the battery life, you'll have to take on the 50w beast. If not.. don't bother.

If I do a run down...

100% (all) of my Sigeleis work. (3 of 3)
100% of my Kanger stuff works. (too many to count)
100% of my Innokin stuff works, discounting a battery I left in a cupboard for a year. (Hardly Innokin's fault)
75% (3 of 4) of my iSticks are still fine.
25% (1 of 4) of my "Vision" eGo batteries still work.

0% of my smok mods work. (2 or 2)
0% of my Joyetech stuff works (5 of 5)

As you can see, I'm not in a hurry to recommend smok or Joyetech.

A great starter tank is the subtank mini as you receive the RBA for when you are comfortable enough to start building coils

Ditto on the Subtank Mini and the Subox. You can get the whole kit for around $60 plus buy a couple of batteries that cost anywhere from $7 up for a Samsung 25R. USB Charging and pass thru capabilities. These are durable little mods and great tanks. The coils last a pretty good while, I get 3 weeks plus on the .5 ohm and it's a good tank to learn to build your own coils on. Also 50 watts and you may one day find that you like the higher watts and sub ohm vaping. Poor reviews on the I Stick 50

Vaping on the istick 30 while i'm typing this. Love it so far. I also have a cool fire 4, love it too.

Go big from the beginning. Get a 50 watt device (not the iStick) and one with a changeable batteries (not an internal lipo).

And stay away from anything cloupor. As for the tank go with subtank mini.

I have two Istick 30w that have been great for 6 months so far, I like their small size. Hard to find now so I've ordered the Istick 40w TC but I will use regular 1.6 and 1.8 ohm vertical cotton coils in nautilus mini tanks which are a natural progression from a ce4. I have no desire to use temp control nickel coils. The kanger subtank mini I don't recommend unless you want to jump to higher power subohming and straight to lung vaping. I have one and though great flavor I get juice leaks out the airholes vaping at 12w on the 1.2 ohm coils mouth to lung hits. The other batteries recommended here sound good though larger than the Istick 40w. Good luck!

yep, it does usb charge but the batteries will get a better charge in an external charger

All of my Innoken still works and have taken a beating with the exception of a couple of SVDs with firing button issues, but they still work. All of my Sigelei still works and my DovPo is still working and my Heatvape Invader Mini also. I have never owned an I Stick as I do not care for internal battery mods. I like to be able to throw in a fresh battery instead. Joyetech is ego and I have never had a problem with those but also never owned Vision except for some cheap clearomizers. My 1st try at a Kanger Protank was one of their first versions and I did not like it as there was no airflow, drilled a hole and it worked fine. I love the Subtank Minis and the KBox Mini as well. All of my Smok is still working.
