im still fairly new to all of this and i have posted a few times on here and now i have a few more questions.
i own this e cig:

and the chrome peice under the drip tip where it screws into the top of the cartro? gets very hot sometimes.
i usually vape about 15 mins at a time every hour or two and ocasionally i will chain vape for about 30 mins if driving or watching tv.
is this normal or did i break it somehow?

i am also curious about e juice. can i buy any kind of ejuice for a website and it will work fine or do i need certain kinds?
also is it normal or ok if the ejuice looks a little yellow like in the pic? it comes out clear and was clear when i bought new two weeks ago?
any help is apreciated! thanks logan

The heat is somewhat normal. My carto tank does get warm after a lot of use.
Generally most eliquid will work with all devices. some are thicker than others and require bigger holes, or wick times. But generally yes any liquid will work. I haven't come across any eliquid yet that I couldn't use.

Hope this helps. :D

Hi there,

First, I unfortunately can't see the pic you posted, but I will say that chain vaping will probably make any metal surface hot. Mainly just because of the amount of heat you're creating in a short amount of time. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're literally burning yourself.

As for the e-juice, it's basically preference. There are differences in flavors and PG/VG mix...those factors will determine amount of vapor produced, throat hit, flavor...etc. I would recommend sampling a few different mixes.

And it is normal for your juice to turn yellow. Over time, the nicotine in the mixture will oxidize (not 100% sure on if it's oxidation or not) and turn yellow. If you ever see juices side by side, a 24mg nicotine content bottle will be much more yellow than a 0mg nicotine bottle, which should almost appear clear unless the flavoring added color.

The more you use your battery in succession the hotter it will get. Pause a minute or two between chain puffs to let it cool down. The color of the juice changing is due to oxygen saturation, heat from your coil(chain vaping will "cook" your juice), and the ingredients mixing together over time. That is what I have learned in my brief experience so far. I am sure there will be more info posted here by others soon.

I have also found that certain dark colored flavors like coffee, sticky bun, chocolate seems to darken faster than others. Even to the point they look like their name sakes in the tank after a while.(coffee looks like real coffee color)

I'm new too but from what I understand if your clearomizer is the top coil variety then it will tend to get hot near the mouthpiece. Especially if you chain vape - take several drags successively. Just need to back off a little and let it cool. You wouldn't notice this as much with bottom coil types.

Also, I've heard that some liquid will change color over time as it ages or "steeps". It's normal.

If you are vaping for 15 minutes straight, then it's perfectly normal for it to get fairly hot. The heat and air are what makes eliquid darken, so that's normal, too. You will also find that the liquid gets progressively darker as you refill the carto tank do to mixing with the heated solution that is already in the tank and carto.

im new and it is just so dang good! :) i cant get enough of my wild cherry eliquid. but seriously is there such thing as too much vaping at one time?

Yes. Too much nicotine will make you sick. If you are a chain vapor, lowering the nic level of you juice might help. Just my opinion though.

Good day to you !

Ive only been vaping for a month, maybe a week or two longer, cant really remember now lol !

So bit of a noob vaper still but ive got two of the same looking batteries, i think their Ego-T batteries, it says Ego-T on mine but whether their genuine is not known lol !

Well i have the same problem, the metal part of the clearomiser gets REAL HOT - this ive noticed to be mostly because i am a chain vaper lol !

So ive now got 3 Clearomisers, once one of them gets a bit hot (Real-Hot lol) i change it for another and keep doing that till ive had enough !

I know this trick wont really do you much use whilst driving but when your not driving this will be the best thing to do ;-)

As a few other members have said, this heating up is somewhat normal, ive kinda realised its down to the design of these 'Clearomisers/Atomisers' and my ones kept DARKENING my ejuice really badly after only a month of buying brand new clearomisers (i think your using an Atomiser there in your pic !) and ive found out one possible reason after totally dismantling all 3 clearomisers...

From my own humble experience;
The wick and coil accumulates ejuice and burns it a little, probably from my excessive vaping, then a layer of burnt ejuice sticks to the coils... this keeps happening until the coils become so clogged that every vape produces less and less vapor and this is the time when i taste more of a burnt vapor than the flavour of my ejuice...

Here's a picture of the muck-coated coil: ( Click on Images to Enlarge ! )

Clearomiser Coil Repair 017.jpg

So when the coil keeps burning my ejuice it darkens the ejuice in the clearomiser and within only a day's vaping i cant see through the clear clearomiser plastic shell anymore !

Heres the coils gently moved away from the centre of the wick:

So i cleaned the coil & wick really gently with loads of Isopropanol alcohol that i put into a spray bottle, kept spraying the wick and coil until the wick became clean and clear again and used a pair of straight tweezers to gently go between all the coils and loosen the muck from the coils:

Clearomiser Coil Repair 024a.jpg

Re-Assembled the coil into the head and put it all back together and now produces vapor nicely once again but noticed in a good few forum posts that the clearomiser/atomiser heads/coils either need replacing or a darn-good cleaning every 7-10 days !

Found this out to be quite true as the muck covered coils burn and darken my ejuice when they get as bad as my one shown in the pics above, i just dont believe that a head assembly should be thrown away so have now invested in some Kanthal Ribbon wire ( 0.3mm x 0.1mm ) and some 3mm glass fiber wick, both from ebay UK, and will be throwing away the crappy coils and haggard wicks that im currently vaping with !!

Ive just successfully made a new wick and coil with this stuff and the results are awesome ! only from 3 coils ( 3 turns of the Kanthal Ribbon wire around the 3mm wick ! ) vaping some very serious clouds now :vapor: !

Will post a how-to for the replacement clearomiser coils soon as i take some photo's of the next one i replace !

Oh but BEWARE of using this Kanthal Ribbon Wire - IT CAN BE SHARP AND CUT FINGERS SO ONLY USE TWO PAIRS OF TWEEZERS TO HANDLE IT !!!

Hope this helps!

PS, the attachment thumbnail is of the straight tweezers tip !

But i found the 1.8mg Nicotine level from this place TOO WEAK and 2.4mg Nicotine just right for my chain-vaping lol !

Idea from where i got the Kanthal Ribbon Wire from ( thanks sywagon ! )

Well ... if it gets too hot to hold
Ummm, you'll probably know if you're vaping too much - you'll feel sick or get a sore mouth. Be sure to drink lots of water or you'll get dyhdrated!
