As long as the wick is saturated with juice, sure you can, many have done exactly that. SS mesh is probably the hardest build to master, and can be finicky. Many use micro coils with cotton or hemp. Some have gone to ceramic rope wick too. Some have even given up the genesis for more easy to build and maintain rba's. Take a look in the rebuildable atomizer sub forum for tips and tricks. Good luck have fun.

yeah, make sure the cotton is saturated before you test fire, obviously... check out a recent youtube video by pbusardo about the Gamma tank, he shows a (dual) cotton wick build. I personally haven't had too much luck with vertical cotton wicks (horizontal wicks in drippers / fogger work fine). but that's probably just cause my build is not too great.

Not a fan of cotton in anything. Ive tried every possible configuration of wick in a genesis style atomizer, and IMO it doesnt get any better than 450 mesh with an ekowool sleeve. Vapor and flavor are comparable with a good rebuildable dripper style atomizer. Im also quite partial to the flat kanthal ribbon, that stuff is excellent
