Like the title suggests, I'm brand new to RDAs. I picked up a Mephisto Clone last night and the kind staff at Artisan built my first coil for me for free. Since I have a long life but low amp battery, we did a weaker build at 0.6 ohms. Doesn't heat very quickly and puts out as much cloud as my nautilus. Which is to be expected from a weaker build. My question is, is the body of the atomizer supposed to get really hot? The battery stays cool but the rda gets super hot. Btw I'm using a Panzer mech mod. And I plan on getting a 20amp+ high drain battery today.

Depending on the dripper and how frequently you're taking a vape, the atomizer can get hot at times with lower ohm, higher wattage, builds. Just make sure that if you feel the actual mech starting to get hot that you remove the battery in case something is wrong. Sometimes it's just heat transferred from the atty to the mech but it's better to be safe than sorry.

At .6 ohms it was putting out very little cloud but ok flavor. Since I started this thread, I built my own coils at .15 ohms and got a Sony VTC4 battery and now it's awesome and the atomizer doesn't seem to get as hot, oddly enough. Those VTC4 batteries are the shiz! Barely gets warm after a lot of vaping
