Noob Who Can't Post in Sub-Forums - Questions RE Flying with Clearos

Hi all!

I've finally registered after lurking on this site for weeks. I have an Evod as well as an eRoll. I have questions about flying; naturally I'm leaving later today and am just now trying to figure out how to pack my gear...brilliant, I know.

Anyway, the overall consensus is that with clearos like the Evod, you can keep liquid in your tank as long as you keep it upside-down. I'm blonde. I don't know which way is upside-down. Drip-tip up?

Also, what about my eRoll carts? Can I leave them filled?

Anyone know if the trick of squeezing the air out of e-liquid bottles will keep them from leaking under cabin pressure?

Finally, I realize anything with liquid in it will have to be in my dumb 3-1-1 bag. (I plan to take all my stuff in my carry-on.) Will I have a clearo confiscated if it has some juice in it?

Any help would be much appreciated. Can't wait to get to my obligatory five posts so I can post in the appropriate sub-forum.

Thanks so much!

Just comment on other posts. Doesn't take long. I believe there are more permissions at 15 posts. Anyway, glad you got out of the rafters and came down to the main floor.

If you are flying and checking the gear, ziplock baggies inside of ziplock baggies. The changing air pressure will mess with the seals. I have empty tanks that are not tightly closed.

I would separate the components and have a "labeled" bottle for your carry on juice. I put mine in my toiletries bag.

I just think there are less questions if things aren't assembled.

Good luck!

The eRoll or any carts need to be upside down as well. When you are looking at this stuff, it's the question of where/how does air get into the chamber holding the liquid? In both the case of the eRoll and an EVOD that's the place where liquid will get forced out under pressure. Basically - where the coil is located. That's the end that needs to be pointing up.

Where are you flying? Security gets what e-cigs are at this point. You just have to "obey" whatever the current rule is about the max amount of liquid allowed per bottle.

I would think the chance of having the setups and e-liquid confiscated is real. Under another thread a member said a 'friend' had his confiscated - be it a fact or not it was questioned for (whatever reason) by the ever-suspicious.

I would take only 'empty tanks' - no matter the type - and I would just seal the bottles inside two 'baggies' (or more) and check-it. I live here at 6,000 feet and even if I drove to sea-level the bottles would be deformed; so, I'd use bottles only half-full / half empty to leave room for 'the crushing' that will happen on an airplane.

Having them confiscated and having to find a shop to buy replacements is not worth the crap-shoot with TSA. I'm relatively certain someone will disagree and list all the reasons why TSA "should not" confiscate. I simply look at the "what if they do"?.

Solve the problem before boarding the plane. If you will have no 'checked luggage' - perhaps put setups in different bags? It is still a crap-shoot as every airport may be different.

Hope your trip goes well.

Tom

I just did a two-leg and return trip, so everything got checked four times. I was going to Panama, which bans import of e-cigarettes for sale.

I had 30ml of liquid, three clearos, a mech mod and a spinner.

I disassembled and carried everything in cabin baggage, with a backup 30ml of liquid in my checked washkit.

UK outgoing security asked to look at my mech mod, just to check it was what they thought it was.

On the return trip I didn't empty my Protank II and did get some leakage, but only enough to want to dry it off before using it.
