I'm on a quest for an good atty. I've tried the Kanger tanks, iKenvape i06, and 510 DCT cartos, all of which i find lacking. They give a raunchy burnt taste anywhere above ~10w and don't produce satisfying throat hit or vapor below that. I need something that-
-can handle high wattage (10-20w) w/ no burnt taste
-is pocket / road-friendly (doesn't leak)
-minimum 3ml capacity
-good vapor and throat hit, even with low nicotine juices

any suggestions?

i was leaning towards the Russian rba. I've heard good things, but I really don't know. i'm a noobie that just switched from cigarettes to vaping recently. the trial-and-error with various atties is getting expensive, so I need some advice.

An RBA with micro coils sounds like it would fit your requirements. The Russian 91% or Kayfun would be excellent choices. But be prepared for some learning curve. Getting good VTF is going to be based on your build. The best RBA in the world is going to be worthless without a proper build. And becoming skilled at the build can take a bit of learning. Hang in there though. The result is well worth it! Good luck.

Although what gregamite just posted is short and to the point, he's right. The Kayfun and clones are one of the best, and most popular RBAs ever made... but, you will be required to make your own coil and wick arrangements.
Coils can last anywhere from a week to a few months, depending on wire used and quality of build... wick will need to be replaced more frequently.

If all that is not for you, I suggest an IBT carto tank fit with Ikenvape or Boge 2.0Ω cartos... but 10 watts is the practical limit for either.
You can build your own low resistance cartos with a RBA carto like the diver... but then your back to building coils and wicks.

You really are expecting too much, unless you're willing to do the work.

Hello,
You don't mention the ohm on these cartos. You would need a higher ohm for such high wattage. Lower ohms =less resistance and will burn just as you said on most ejuices at 7-8 watts.

do a google search for 4.50 or above ohms

:)
It's funny S&S... you go up on resistance, and I go down. ;)

I never even think about high resistance atomizers... literally, I forget they even exist.

Well since the op was mentioning cartos/cartomizers and not really much about atomizers, I thought I'd take a shot since all his ejuice was getting burned.

And... I took the Russian RBA direction.

Just an observation - It's funny how we "see" things more easily that relate to what's in our wheelhouse, and blow right past things that are not. I think low ohms and high amps... you go high resistance and high watts.

At least we didn't do the more frequent, common and most annoying... where one post says something, then 6 more posts to follow, saying the same thing. :glare:

So glad we agree on something. LOL. I have noticed those who echo frequently. :)

i've been buying the standard resistance ones. 3-3.5 ohms. my setup is ea mod w/ evolv kick 2, but plan on building my own dna-based mod soon. (i'm good with a soldering iron and like diy projects)

I wonder about the PG/VG ratio of OP's juices. Single-punched cartos (or most Evods and other clearos) can't typically keep up with high wattage and high VG. Maybe that's the issue? Too much VG to run low- or standard- resistance cartos/clearos at such a high wattage?

I've tried various juices, currently have some Alice in Vapeland, and Heather's Heavenly Vapes. both 50/50 i believe. I've used the iKenvape fusion (dual-punched) and platinum (slotted) cartos, as well as the SMOK brand dual-punched cartos.

If you are using carto/cartomizers and want to go higher in watts, then listen to state-o-flux. He is talking about an atomizer(which doesn't contain any of the fillers that cartomizers that have you mentioned, i.e. dct cartos and they have a polyfil fiber in them which will burn.)
:)
