Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm eternally grateful for this site! My husband found a banner for Smoking Everywhere and was COMPLETELY sold on buying one. Thanks to a few affiliate sites, thinly disguised as review sites, I started looking into different brands, which led me here. In Russian: Spacebo Bolshoye (big thanks!) The info here is freaking amazing.

We've decided to go with the Joye 501 and I think we're going to like it a lot. Along with the initial 5 carts, we're going to get a decent sized bottle of juice as well. This is mainly for me, as I've been trying to quit smoking analogs for 8 years with amazingly pathetic results. Not sure if my husband is going to use it often.

Is there anything we need to know, or look out for? Do we need more e-juice than a 20ml bottle? We're complete newbs, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Most people go through 2-4ml per day, and new users tend to use a bit more than that. 20ml probably won't last the two of you very long, so I'd definitely recommend getting more juice. There's nothing worse than switching completely for a week then having to go back to regular cigarettes because you ran out of juice.

I put together a chart of e-liquid suppliers price per ml, so you can easily find a supplier in your price range.

I don't think I agree with that so much.
I would assume that most people start off with prefilled high mg carts (about 16-18mg).

So, a new user goes through 5+ml of liquid at 18mg? 100mg of nicotine a day?

I'd say it's more like 1-2ml. Maybe 3 at the most.

That chart is really nice though.

Not so much use it as spill it, have it leak out of the cart, make all the mistakes that everybody makes when they're first trying it out. Plus, there is the "new toy" factor that most new users get that causes them to use it a bit more than a long-time user who has "settled down".

OK, I get ya. I wasn't trying to bust your chops or anything, that just seemed like a large amount.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

One thing would be to maybe find out if you are allergic to Propylene Glycol.

I didn't, and sadly when I received my e-cig, I had to go to the hospital because I was unaware of my allergy.

Secondary to that, if the people you're thinking of buying equipment from have a website that would not look out-of-place on tripod (remember this, anyone?) or GeoCities, it's probably a scam. TOO many sites are popping up. Unfortunately, that also means TOO many people too willing to take advantage of less-educated consumers.

Allergies to PG are very rare, and of course one could be allergic to flavours, for example, as well. (And PG is in so many things, if you were allergic, chances are excellent that you'd already know.)

If you haven't ordered yet, do consider the eGo, too. It's basically 510 on a bigger battery (180mAh vs. 650 mAh) with that neat cone. Saves you all that trouble with PCCs and carrying extra batteries etc. and although it's the very same atomizer, many people say (I am among them) that it tastes even better on the eGo.

You will need more juice, and you should also take into account that the one you want to order might be one you absolutely don't like. Happens. (Rarely, but happens.) Also, if you like it, don't order too of it much yet - your taste is going to change considerably in the first few weeks.

And I strongly recommend using this cart mod from the beginning (of course not with full pre-filled carts), it makes a great difference, and I think even technically less inclined people might just manage to do it ;)

Welcome,,,,With E-juice, I found out that what one person likes a lot....another person hates it even more...The first month, I must have bought a few hundred dollars of different juice to check them out....Now, I buy about 3-5 different kinds that I like...Every once in a while I will try something new,,,,just because I want to...But, this is only my second full month so.....For me, I learned from this site to make sure I have enough batteries and attys....Without them, it doesn't matter what you vape.....
Good Luck and Again, Welcome....From one Noobie to Another...

The hardest thing, for me, with using a PV was finding a juice that worked.

I had to find a taste that worked and find a nic level that worked.

Seemed that every flavor I thought I'd like, I didn't.

I started too low on nic and went up slowly.

It took weeks until I found the right combo that made it so I had no desire for a cigarette.

So, my advice would be to order small bottles of various juice, with various bases, flavors, and stength. When you find one you like, then the cost effective thing is to order a large quantity. Be sure to go back to the ones you did not like a few weeks after you stop smoking, because your tastes will change.

YMMV

Welcome from a fellow newbie! My husband and I are also planning on quitting smoking with our Joye 510 that's on the way (hopefully!). I hope you find something that works for you. :)

Wow!

All of help and warm welcomes are greatly appreciated, as were the charts and guides. We're so green at this that every bit of information comes in handy :)

We ordered our 510 this afternoon, with 50ML of juice to start with. We thought it was going to ship today, but there wasn't an update, so we'll get it sometime next week. Geez, every time I smoke, I keep wishing that I had it, LOL!

I'm sure we'll be back, asking questions and all of that good stuff :)
