Noon needing help with first rebuildable

Hey guys, names jeff, I've been lurking for a while, learning little bits here and there. I've gotten good at rebuilding my protanks and evods. I've been using ego batteries like the ego v v3 which is alright.

Recently picked up a hammer clone and a Prometheus clone. They look awesome! Just wish I could use them, lol. I'm having issues building the Prometheus. No matter what I do it shorts out. I've tried regular coils, micro coils, mesh, cotton. Been going at it for 3 days. I'm starting to think the negative posts are to close to the positive. Has anyone heard of that before?

Make sure the positive post has an insulator under it.
Use a meter and without a coil, check to make sure the center post is not shorting to the base.

you should have infinite resistance between the center pin and the base to start with.

Think I may have another problem. Sitting here thinking a decided to check voltage on my batteries. New efest imr18650 2000 mah that just come off the charger they came with and I got 3.34 volts. Hmmm

And I checked ohms, checked out OK. And I have 1.8 on the single coil sitting on it now.

Hmmm...

Thats not good. Not charged at all. Pretty much dead batts on a 1.8 ohm coil wont make much vapor!

Don't know what charger you have.
If it has sliding contacts for the neg side, make sure you have voltage when the contacts are slid out to accommodate the battery perhaps?

Since you found proper voltage on the charger...? another Hmmm?

With no batteries on it the charger is putting out 4.19. With one on it I'm only getting 3.33. Is the charger crap?

And its only the cheap charger that came with the bundle.

I would say the charger is crap. It should be putting out more than that.

Good batteries and a good charger are essential.

Can you recommend a good charger? I'm looking at a nitecore i4. Is that any good?

I have an efest LUC. It is depenable and charges my batts to 4.2v reliably.
The xtar vp1 gets rave reviews also as does the pila charger.

I also have a $5 xtar mp1 that is ok, no frills, cheaply built and somewat flakey. Not my go to charger. Works but I have had it oner charge a battery. Never went green, brought a batt to 4.3v.

I second the vote for a Nitecore. I alos have a trustfire that works fine, but my batts come off the Nitecore with .02-.03 more volts and seem to last longer...
