Phil, congrats on the move. I also had issues when I first tried vaping. Actually, I tried, didn't like it, a cig lookalike, and went back to the nasty. Couple years later tried again, this time with a tank with a cartomizer and went in with a different expectation. This time I didn't expect it to be the same as an analog. After a little while, I got used to them, and have no desire what so ever to go back.

Today is my one year anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!:toast:

Congrats on the anniversary, it is so much easier with a decent kit. :toast:

Thanks daleron! My whole family is happy, as I was a pack and a half a day smoker for 39 years!

Phil, you are so right! And good luck to you in making the quit permanent!

Please could somebody explain how to rinse out a Evod. I have put some cherry in one but want to change it to tobacco for tomorow.
Thanks

Yes on the above. Also, the PV/Setup matters too. When I switched from 3.7 volt stuff to 5 volt stuff....I about knocked myself on my tush with nic. Once it vaporizes well, and you get clouds, it makes a difference.

You have to be aware of nic and its effects. I could probably vape anywhere from 18 to 36 and not OD...but I'm "aware" now. And it's different with vaping than smoking for some reason. You have to be a bit more "in tune". That said, few people have ever O.D.ed on cigs or nic or e-cigs. They usually just get sick 1st...special conditions excepted were nic is a contributing factor. Most realize what is going on.

So...I agree with the above posters....over-nic-ing is stoooooopid. So, BTW, are the "wattage competitions".

I like Kat's advice about having 2 strengths of the same flavor and mixing. Many also reduce nic levels at night.

LOL i have to laugh at this, sorry. I have been vaping hard since March 02. all my liquids are 24 mg nic. so far im still alive no OD here.
Using evic and multiple vivi novas and lots of flavors LOVE IT LOVE IT. Just about a chain vapor here. My batteries even get a little warm at times.

Please don't laugh. This is not a laughing matter.

24 mg is not high, and if you can tolerate it, that's fine. Plenty of people vape 24 and 36 mg eliquids and enjoy it, especially new vapers and those who vape at lower wattages.

But please don't laugh at dangers of overdosing. They are real.

Just rinse out the tank under warm water and let it dry. Soak the coil in some alcohol (cheap vodka or PGA are good) if it's dirty. Or grab a fresh coil--they are inexpensive. Those coils can also be dry burned--there are many instructional videos on Youtube.

Apparently you can't read either. But it's nice to know you almost passed Evelyn Wood. ;) And you have to put it in context...I didn't quite mean litterally O.D. to the point of death....but rather "get too much nic". This is further explained later in the post with "over-nic-ing". See also:

Yeah...20 to 24 mg is my all day vape. However, as I noted, it's hard to truly OD on nic to the point of death. Pretty sure some idiot will figure it out someday though.

Everyone is different. I know a couple of people (real people in the real world) who regularly use 36mg. I also know people who can't tolerate 12 mg. I'd rather have my friends start at 12-18 and have to increase, than start at 36 and deal with the nausea.

I don't think that vaping is all that great either, but I'd rather vape than smoke--I think (st least I can hide in a bathroom and have a smoke and no one will know;). I've only been vaping a few weeks, and I have tried the 808, 510, eGo, cartomizer, etc..., and I'm not too impressed with the taste of ejuice. Too much sweet, sweet, sweet stuff, and I'm getting headaches. However, I'm hoping if I stick with it, I'll kick analogs.

I will suggest one really good tasting ecig (which more experienced members would probably laugh at). I don't know if you can get them in the UK, but they are called Greensmokes. Try Absolute Tobacco or Red Tobacco (ARE YOU listening juice makers?). Absolute Tobacco is better than a real analog. They cost a little more, but they are an excellent transition from real cigarettes.

Cheers!

It's not that I would laugh at that at all, but Absolute Tobacco is made with Tobacco Absolute (most likely) and the cost is incredible for what you're actually getting that one day--if you stick with it and find out what is what--you'll realize that some of those, if not most of those, introductory ecig vendors are kept in business by slick and aggressive marketing. And here's the kicker: they're all selling practically the exact same thing. The flavors may be slightly different, but the actual set-sups? Yeah, those are the same. If you want to stick with that kind of set-up for awhile (and I would understand that as I did the same for a year and a half ), I would, in good faith, recommend Smokeless Image over the Njoy, Blu, SafeCig (effectively shut down by Ruyan and actually had a different connector than 808), and GreenSmoke. V2 isn't bad either for what they are selling, but what they are selling is not going to prove to be any real difference from the rest. Price, when is comes to those kind of vendors, will not prove to be an indicator of quality, it should only prove to be an indicator of profits being raked in.

I'm currently having a heck of a time finding an eliquid that I like. I had my favorite, but I'm having serious PG reactions. It didn't come on right away - it took a few months for it to slowly build up into full blown hives. It got so bad, I couldn't sleep at night. I went to 100vg and still had issues. Then I found out the flavoring (flavourart) has a PG base. I quit altogether and within about 36 hours all allergy signs were gone. I did go back to smoking. I'm not worried that I can quit because I would much rather be using an ecig, but I'm waiting on samples to come so that I can find one that I like.

I got two samples from Virgin Vapors in the past couple days and I was really disappointed. I got the Best Damn Tobacco and I don't think I've ever tasted anything so horrid in my life - and that includes all the samples of tobacco flavors that I've tried at my local places. Nothing came anywhere near to the absolute horrible taste of this stuff. I got the Kona Coffee and it's got such a strong and overpowering alcohol taste that I have to let that one sit and see if it's better in a few weeks.

I have heard good things about Heather's Heavenly Vapes and the Purity line, so I'm waiting on about 8 samples. I'm crossing my fingers.

VCV doesn't even sell liquid that has PG. Not just all VG, but no PG. Some vendors will not state whether or NOT their flavorings have PG or their nic, so VCV may be a good option for you. I buy from them and every order has had at least one (or more)10 mL samples if you ask.

DIY your juice. Swap stuff around. How do you know for sure it's the PG? (it may very well be...not saying it isn't).

I know some flavorings do that to me. Also, some VG does it. I know this because I DIY my juice. One supply of VG from a different than usual vendor did that to me. When I swapped it out, hives went away. Swapped it back in, they came back. Same nic base, same flavorings otherwise. Just a VG change. Not all VG is the same. Some comes from coconut, I think. Some doesn't.

If you DIY, you can do this type of swapping thing. Some flavorings do it too (for me). So...there's almost no way for you to know unless you've had tests or know from experience that it's PG. If it's a common flavoring or two, you won't know unless you DIY because they don't publish the recipe.

Also, as you noted, when you get a juice you may have to shake it well and let it steep for a couple of weeks. It may go from horrid to wonderful.
