So I've been vaping for around 2.5 months now, and It's been good, until recently. I have a few tanks (a Protank Mini, a BCC Mega, and an Iclear 30), but I just haven't been getting that desired vape. I'm either getting sub par flavor, or weird tasting hits. I have an ego twist, a 16650 evic easy head mod, and an MVP 2. I've played around with different voltages / wattages, and it's good sometimes, but "meh" most of the time.

Any suggestions? I'm probably going to get an Igo - w and start to build and drip to see if that helps, but then comes the problem of having to drip all the time. I would use a genesis, but I don't want to have to worry about keeping it upright so it doesn't leak.

If you guys have any suggestions, please throw 'em in a reply.

Also, inb4 juices, the juices I have are ones that I've been greatly enjoying until what i'm guessing is my coils started to .... out on me.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
There are so many possible responses to this question....

I think you might be ready to take the next step and look into a more advanced delivery system. A cartotank or even something with a higher learning curve.

That point of dissatisfaction doesn't really go away until you push yourself a little.

There are a couple of threads on this first page of this forum that you might find handy, one pretty near the top about high end delivery systems. I'm not saying you need to be jumping into sub ohm stuff or anything, but there are other helpful comments in those topics.

Check them out.

I've actually been thinking about getting a cartotank setup, but always see failed attempts at trying cartos in the carto forum. Many complain about filler flavor, and cartos going dry. I plan to get a IBtanked setup - just to have one because they're relatively inexpensive and seem to be high quality, could you recommend cartos to use? I've seen that Boge and Ikenvape seem to be the popular picks for cartos.

Using an IBTanked cartotank (on an MVP2) with the Smok cartos that IBTanked sells (two hole, punched).. working very well and I recommend them highly. Courtesy of Baditude's good judgement on this setup. Do a search for his posts on all things carto related. Not sure what Zoe is using right now, but she seems pretty satisfied too. I also have some Ikenvape cartos that I have been using in my IBTanked and they are fine too, though I'm not sure they really work any better for me , then the Smok cartos.. at least with the juice that I favor. I have not tried the Boges.. as of yet.
Best of luck. :toast:

What were you using before you went to a carto tank setup?

ALSO, do the ibtanked caps have a recess for a flanged carto?

I had the same problem. A ProVari and a Kayfun Lite fixed it for me. This may be more of an investment than you would want to make, but putting a micro-coil with a cotton wick on a Kayfun Lite (on now a Kayfun Lite Plus - they just upgraded it to a new version) and putting it on the ProVari generates tons of vapor and the taste of the juice is very clean. The Kayfun Lite is an RBA, however, it looks like it's the easiest RBA to rebuild. It took me 15 minutes to set it up the 1st time with a silica wick and this is my first RBA. If you set it up with a cotton wick, changing the wick is 1 minute and a pack of 100% organic cotton will give you wicks for a veeery long time.

I started with regular ego-c batteries and cheap carto tanks, and then got a ProTank 2 and a ProVari - this immediately gave me better results. Then I got the Kayfun lite and this was head and shoulders better than the ProTank 2 because it does not leak, the vape is very consistent to the last drop in the tank, and the coil rebuilds are so much easier than for the ProTank. Just don't forget to buy some Kanthal A1 wire - 32 or 30 gauge and have a 1/16 drill-bit handy, as it does not come with a coil - you have to build one when you get it. You can do a search here on how to build a coil - there's a ton of info on this topic here and on youtube.

You can also run the Kayfun Lite on your eVic. If you decide that RBA is not for you, I'm sure that you will be able to sell it in the classies here without any problems and without losing any real money.

Loldathe,

Oh, the usual progression it seems... Kanger T2's, T3S's, ProTank 2. Protank Mini.. dripping atomizer (Stingray)... everyone seems to go down a similar path, then on to RDA's RBA's Genesis etc.

So far I am loving my cartotank for sheer simplicity, ease of use, lack of problems.. and of course good vapor and excellent flavor. I really could care less about clouds of vapor (though some are into that). I am more interested in good flavor.. and for me, personally I find a good carto/tank to be the sweet spot. Then again, you might ask me that in a few more months and I could have a different opinion... lol ... and so it goes.

Before you get into the RBAs you might want to just get a good ole Joye 510 atty that you can drip directly into. Just the atty and a drip tip. Great for tasting flavors and you will get a look-see about dripping without the cost and rebuilding learning curve. I pick up my Joye 510 attys at DigitalCiggz.com for a couple of dollars each. Here is a thread about regular atty dripping if you want to check it out.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...405910-regular-atty-drippers-dying-breed.html

I can not help you with the carto stuff. I use my 510 attys on spinners and my MVP2 and they are a great way to taste flavors or just relax and vape.

Loldathe,

.. dripping atomizer (Stingray)...

I actually have a stingray for testing new juices, but dripping is just such a hassle for me.
I'm hoping it won't be as bad once I get an Igo - w considering I could drip more into that than into the tiny stingray.

I guess the RDA i've been planning to get really is the next step for me :p trying a carto tank too of course!

Kayfun a little expensive for me unfortunately, but I think my next investment after my Igo - w and my carto tank will be a Fogger. I've watched tons and tons of videos on building coils, different wicking methods, all that jazz, I've just been too tight on money to get around to it.

However, when I do get the money, a Provari and a Kayfun is the setup I've been eyeing.

Igo-W being the dual coil, if I remember correctly, you might check out the Igo-L , if you want single coil.. not sure I see the sense in a dual coil, of course this is only from reading on my part, not from actual experience with duals.

I have a Smoktech RSST (Genesis) sitting here.. just waiting for me to dive into it.. lol
Maybe when I find the time/energy/desire, I will. At this point I'll just enjoy my IBTanked and be happy.

Does the IBtanked have a slot on the bottom cap for the flanged cartos? I'm crazy about everything looking flush, and that tiny gap from the 510 to the tank would just kill me from the inside out.

No they don't.. so there is just a tiny gap when the flange is, though you could get unflanged cartos. The top/bottom caps are identical.

I think the tanks are pretty well bomb-proof, for being glass.. quite thick borosilicate (pyrex). and the stainless steel bottom/top caps are very slender (stylish) with good o-ring seals (extra set of o-rings included). Even with the very minimal gap (due to the flanges) the IBTanked looks really fantastic on an MVP2.. I'm sure on other devices as well. :)

If you screw the beauty ring for the the MVP up just a tiny little bit. it totally hides the flange/gap. Which is what I do.

You might check out the Phiniac tanks too, a bit more expensive, highly regarded.

If you wouldn't mind and have a minute, could you post a pic of the setup on the MVP?

Here's mine (IBTanked 19mm) on a titanium blue MVP2, ProTank 2 on the right (back), T3S on the left (back).

I think that Tayfun has a fairly well reviewed clone of the Kayfun lite. I have the Kfl+ on a Provari and can attest to the ease of rebuild and quality. I am looking to try it on a Mech... that should be interesting... If you are going to get into RBA's make sure you have an ohm meter of some sort. It make a huge difference in resistance depending on gauge of wire # of wraps etc. Super fun to mess with if you like that kind of thing... I'm an IT guy anyway so... :vapor: -on

Haven't read all of the replies yet, so I may be repeating, but I highly recommend learning to recoil your Protank heads and going to cotton wicks. Seems like the vaping learning curve includes virtually always trying to find the sweet spot, and thereby practically never actually being in it, but I've been in vaping heaven since I went to the above system.
