Haven't read all of the replies yet, so I may be repeating, but I highly recommend learning to recoil your Protank heads and going to cotton wicks. Seems like the vaping learning curve includes virtually always trying to find the sweet spot, and thereby practically never actually being in it, but I've been in vaping heaven since I went to the above system.
+1 on this. there's a lot of videos out there!

Kayfun a little expensive for me unfortunately, but I think my next investment after my Igo - w and my carto tank will be a Fogger. I've watched tons and tons of videos on building coils, different wicking methods, all that jazz, I've just been too tight on money to get around to it.

However, when I do get the money, a Provari and a Kayfun is the setup I've been eyeing.

The Fogger looks good! How does it hold up? Is the quality pretty good?

What kind of coil do you build? Micro? Do they leak at all into the 510 connector? I'm about to give up on them - have to wipe them down like 20 times a day and my mod... I think that the original coil build is the culprit, but I have not figured out what kind of coil to build to stop the leaking.

Thank you in advance.

So I've been vaping for around 2.5 months now, and It's been good, until recently. I have a few tanks (a Protank Mini, a BCC Mega, and an Iclear 30), but I just haven't been getting that desired vape. I'm either getting sub par flavor, or weird tasting hits. I have an ego twist, a 16650 evic easy head mod, and an MVP 2. I've played around with different voltages / wattages, and it's good sometimes, but "meh" most of the time.

Any suggestions? I'm probably going to get an Igo - w and start to build and drip to see if that helps, but then comes the problem of having to drip all the time. I would use a genesis, but I don't want to have to worry about keeping it upright so it doesn't leak.

If you guys have any suggestions, please throw 'em in a reply.

Also, inb4 juices, the juices I have are ones that I've been greatly enjoying until what i'm guessing is my coils started to .... out on me.

Try the Vision Aurora. Attys give you the most flavor and that's an affordable bottom fed system. That, in time, would lead to a bottom fed mod box... It's worth trying!

Screw all of the other suggestions, you should just save your pennies and get a Reo. I literally have not bought any vapor gear except for some extra drip attys to use on my Reo. I am pretty experienced with vaping and have tried most of the suggestions listed here.

None have given me the vape that I get from my Reo. Not to mention, the Reo is super simple to keep up. The build on the Reomizer RDA is one of the most simple I have tried. The actual device is also beautifully simple. After all the money and time I have spent on "getting a better vape," I have found it. I don't have to cruise the forums,Ffasttech joes, or gotsmoke to find the latest gear. I am already there.

The price of the Reo is pretty steep, but considering how much I will be saving by not buying a ton of lame stuff that vapes for a day and craps out, it is worth it.

Before you get into the RBAs you might want to just get a good ole Joye 510 atty that you can drip directly into. Just the atty and a drip tip. Great for tasting flavors and you will get a look-see about dripping without the cost and rebuilding learning curve. I pick up my Joye 510 attys at DigitalCiggz.com for a couple of dollars each. Here is a thread about regular atty dripping if you want to check it out.

I can not help you with the carto stuff. I use my 510 attys on spinners and my MVP2 and they are a great way to taste flavors or just relax and vape.

This is not only the most affordable, but also the absolute best advice you've received in this thread (look at my signature for perspective).

But that takes all the fun out of the adventure...

A REO is certainly on my wish list. It's the one device that I really have a burning desire to drop some cash on. Ok, well maybe the Wizard Evolved too... lol

I use a 32 guage kanthal and wrap around a 1/16 inch drill bit. Normally I just do four wraps, but my resistance has been coming in low, about 1.4, so I'm thinking about bumping up to five wraps. Roll a tuft of cotton into a tube, feed it through the coil, cut it off at the ends, and that's about it. Pretty simple. I can usually just rewick the coil three or four times before I have to recoil it.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
I've actually been thinking about getting a cartotank setup, but always see failed attempts at trying cartos in the carto forum. Many complain about filler flavor, and cartos going dry. I plan to get a IBtanked setup - just to have one because they're relatively inexpensive and seem to be high quality, could you recommend cartos to use? I've seen that Boge and Ikenvape seem to be the popular picks for cartos.
I've never had a dry hit from a cartotank setup but it could be the way I draw or that I'm just extremely lucky or any other factor. Honestly, I really don't know the cause of my success.

Don't let a few stories put you off trying something. Your own success isn't based on THEIRS.

I followed Baditude's instructions on his blog and was off and running immediately, never stumbling once. Your results may vary.

Using an IBTanked cartotank (on an MVP2) with the Smok cartos that IBTanked sells (two hole, punched).. working very well and I recommend them highly. Courtesy of Baditude's good judgement on this setup. Do a search for his posts on all things carto related. Not sure what Zoe is using right now, but she seems pretty satisfied too. I also have some Ikenvape cartos that I have been using in my IBTanked and they are fine too, though I'm not sure they really work any better for me , then the Smok cartos.. at least with the juice that I favor. I have not tried the Boges.. as of yet.
Best of luck. :toast:
I have both Smok cartomizers and Ikenvape, dual punched, flanged (that I've been using, anyway) on IBTanked, Phiniac, and/or Bedazzled tanks. I just grab what fits, prime it using the toothpick method, insert with my Slap Yo Mama tool, fill the tank the rest of the way, and go. It takes about a minute total to set up. I honestly haven't noticed a difference between the Smok or Ikenvapes...mainly because I don't really pay attention to what I'm grabbing...lol

If it works I call it good. :)

I haven't got it yet, but from everything I watch there's mixed opinions. I've seen some people say it leaks like crazy, and I've seen some say it vapes really well and gives crazy good flavor. Some have also admitted leaking was user error, so may not be as bad as some people are making it seem.

+1 on this. The vape was just OK until I started doing this. I actually liked my EVODs better. I make a 2 ohm microcoil with a cotton wick. It's a good skill to learn so you'll hardly ever need to buy coils unless you lose parts or burn the insulator. You'll need to learn to wrap one anyway on a rebuildable

Igo-W being the dual coil, if I remember correctly, you might check out the Igo-L , if you want single coil.. not sure I see the sense in a dual coil, of course this is only from reading on my part, not from actual experience with duals.
I have an Igo-W and you don't have to use two coils. The posts are there if you want to though. They have holes in the post to run your wire through also. Drill the air hole out to at least 1/16". You can't even fit a pin through the stock ones. Don't drill them both out if you're just going to do a single coil

Another plan of mine, I save all my dead protank heads for exactly this reason. I've yet to have the money to drop on some wick and wire, along with an ohm meter unfortunately.

Being a broke student sucks, I still don't understand how I can afford to replenish my juice lol.

Just remember - it's cheaper than buying cigs, and much much healthier.

Nonsense, you can get a hundred foot roll of kanthal for, what, five bucks, and a bag of cotton balls, and you're in fresh heads for the foreseeable future.

Can you recommend a source for cheap good quality kanthal? Kidneypuncher seems to have everything I could possibly need, but they seem a bit more expensive.

Free shipping is a huge +++

Lodathe- I tried cartos early on and almost immediately pushed them off saying "these suck". I then went back to my Novas, iClear 30, & ProTank but remained unsatisfied. So I picked up another carto tank & all of a sudden it was what I was looking for. Turns out the carto tanks didn't suck. I just didn't know what the hell I was doing. I got dry hits from not priming them correctly or letting them go dry. (And once you burn those ....ers you don't get that taste out of it- just pitch it & open a new one! lol) That and I sprung for a Provari about a month & a half ago and it's made a world of difference in my vaping experience. Good luck with whatever direction you decide to go in!
