On the road
I am partial to the sweeter/fruity flavors but would suggest requesting some samples from Simply Vapes. I just stopped by his house this morning and picked up three new flavors to try out. I was only going to buy one 30mL bottle but he really wanted me to try a couple more of his flavors and he gave me two 30mL bottles of other flavors to try out.

I've sampled a number of his flavors and feel you should find something of his you would like.

I know, got my bottle of Rum and Cake from ECblend. It was not bad when I used it right away, you could taste a flavor of rum & coke but still nothing terrific. Then a few days later it tasted like cigarettes that sat in the car a couple of weeks. Changed the coil with slight improvement today but still nothing to write home about. I can barely taste any of the rum and coke flavor just a peculiar taste. I am thinking I should just put it way for a few more weeks. If that doesn't help is there anything that can be done with it besides give it away? It is a 30ml bottle so if I could perhaps save it??

I'm going to put in my vote for "Buy samplers." I loved juices others have loved, loved juices others have hated, and hated juices others have loved. Taste is very subjective. Seriously consider getting a good dripper and hit up a vape meet, great way to try new flavors.

If you can't find a vape meet, consider hosting one. My wife and I are currently in the middle of planning a local vape meet, probably the first in the area. Folks are excited about trying new flavors, meeting new friends, and trying out some juice!

If you liked V4L, just order from them. If you get something you like, stick with it.

Everyone doesn't flavor jump. I vaped the first two e-liquids for about a year until I got sick of them.

When my mother started vaping she vaped Hilton for a long, long time. Now she vapes Casa from BWB. I think she vaped BWB 555 and Virginia then moved to Casablanca. Now that's the only thing she vapes. I can't recommend a tobacco flavor because I don't vape them.

I'm not saying you'll like them, in fact you might hate them. I hate recommending flavors but just an example.

Try goodejuice.com especially for tobacco's. Their homebrews taste like you are sucking on a tobacco leaf. The Patriot taste like an expensive cigar/pipe tobacco and nothing else added. HHV seems to be adding flavors to their tobacco's (plus they really need a weeks steep). HHV Legend actually tastes like an RY4 to me.

The goodejuice premium line has many good flavors as well. Some better than others, but none (I've tried) has that nasty perfume taste. My favorites are the maui menthol, sweet apple, ecto cooler, and kryptonite if you want to go funky.

I agree about the tobacco flavors, but that's all I have tried.... they had to steep for a couple of weeks.

Best coffee e-juice so far:
Kona Coffee E Liquid
Tastes and smells just like unsweetened coffee.

I know for me I like a menthol..but as with analogs..it has to taste great. Some analogs taste like floor sweepings and some make you want to puke...when I would find one I would stick with one. Right now I am deciding between Menthol's. Ordered small bottles of Red Box, 7 Leaf and New Harbor. Giving my self some time to choose. I got a free sample of Black Magic, a non-menthol honey tabbacco and I absolutely love it. I had to order my son some Bubblegum so I ordered myself the Rum & Coke just to see how that would be..so far the jury is out..I don't know how much longer it needs to steep but right now I really do not care for it..may have to give that one to my son. Seems I like a little bit of sweetness with my tobacco. I tried some candy, fruit and coffee flavors a couple years ago and they just didn't rock my world.

Unfortunately I could count all the vaper's I know on one hand. One being my son and one in Buffalo. I did hear that there is or was a vape cafe in Buffalo, not sure if they have that kind of thing there. I would think for any type of e-juice store if I am lucky enough to find one I would need some sort of drip set up gear

With the Patriot, you get a fresh tobacco flavor out of the mailbox...reminds me of that incipient bitterness found in fresh Sicilian olive oils.
After about a week the biting freshness is gone and taste sort of hangs until about 2 weeks when it matures and flavor gets some really nice depth.

Update: The HHV Tobacco ones I ordered a quite a bit better now. It's still not something I'll consider an ADV..

The Mt.Baker ones are all still horrible. Even after about 2 months of steeping.

The funny thing is my friend gets his juice from Mt.Baker, and his tasted so much better. I'm wondering if it's my mod, or better yet, the protank that's not giving it the right flavor???

Any suggestions on this? Can the different clearos/cartos/etc cause that much of a flavor change?

I find that with cartomizers you can taste the filler that's in there when it's heated. I've found that dripping give the best taste. I purchased a K1 DC RCS clearomizer from Totally Wicked and it's about the same AND it's a tank, so you don't have to keep dripping. TW Tiger's Blood is my current ADV.

Different juice holders sometimes can make your taste perception change a bit. I don't think enough to actually change how the liquid tastes, as in going from bad to good. But, your tastes will change the longer you're away from cigarettes. Do not throw away your liquids. Come back to them periodically to see how your tastes and the liquids are changing.

Also remember that sometimes samples still need steeping. It depends on how soon the large batch for samples were mixed before being dispensed into the sample bottles and shipped to you. No matter what I get, I will always leave the cap and dripper tip off for 2 days, shaking periodically. Cap and dripper back on. Generally I have enough sitting around that I love so the new liquids can sit for a while before trying them.

NET tobacco's (the ones you have from HHV) generally require a few weeks steeping time before they hit that magical stage. Fruity Vapes don't require such a long steep time. The more complex a liquid is, the longer it needs to meld.

Think of it like when your making food. Some things are good the first day but the leftovers are better. The spices need time to really marry and make the dish yummy.

The fact that some liquids need steeping really upsets some people and I understand that. But the fact is, it would require huge storage facilities to carry all the variations of the liquids. When you finally figure out a few good liquids, order enough so you don't run out before the next batch has reached it's potential. When you finally have enough on hand, order samples to try out. Don't count on loving anything right out of the mailbox. Flavors sometimes need time to grow on you.

I try to give a new liquid at least a tankful to decide on whether or not I like it. There have been a few that have literally made me gag. Those do not get a tankful of time. :p More often than not, some have become a WOW! I get it! juice about halfway through the tank.

The liquids are truly the hardest part of vaping. There are just sooo many different ones out there. Good luck on your search :)

If you like coffee more than tobacco, I'm surprised you didn't try HHV's Mocha Java Smoothe, which I hear is a pretty good coffee and cream. Also from HHV, Heavenly Army or Shadow -- it's part of their NET line, but are still delicious from day 1 without any woodsy tobacco -- it's a sweet, creamy tobacco with graham and cocoa (HA), while Shadow is creamy hint of vanilla -- tastes like a Bismark doughnut. I've been addicted to Heavenly Army since day one, and have about 115ml left on the shelf... but going fast :)

I also hear that Mountain Oak Vapor line of fruit and gourmet blends are the right balance of flavor and sweetness (not overly sweet). They use a custom PG/VG ratio, but there is an option to add menthol if you're so inclined.

Lastly, I would heartily recommend Halo's new Juice, Voodoo. It's lightly sweet white grape and berry with a hint of bakery cinnamon/vanilla in the background; it is listed as a tobacco, but frankly it helps makes the bakery note and nothing more. It's not overpowering, it's just a juicy, refreshing all day vape.

    Another Update:

Purchased 2 (Bounty hunter, NLV Gold) flavors from Nite Lite Vapor and definitely can say that these flavors are much better in my opinion. These were pre-made on June 2013, so didn't really need any additional steeping. Both of the flavors do taste a bit similar though, with Bounty hunter being a bit more sweeter.

Quite satisfied with the purchase this time around. Gonna try to order from some other recommended vendors and see how things go.

Any suggestion on the next vendor to try?
