Does anyone prefer using blank carts when dripping instead of the drip tip?

I got a metal one that I'm not too fond of. The hole is huge and because of that I don't get much flavor when drawing. However it is more convenient.

I find that because the carts have such a small hole, the smoke gets isolated to a small section of the tongue and therefore can be tasted better. Anyone else experience this?

Honestly this is the first that I heard of that issue.

Maybe the taste difference is that you are comparing a plastic cart and a metal drip tip. ( Just a guess and not saying it's a bad thing)

Maybe try plastic drip tips,if you want, and compare from there.

also unless that is what you meant by using blank carts.. you can try drilling out your blank carto (turning it into a drip tip) and then you can quickly see if a big hole is your culprit.

I've noticed this, too. If you have a soft tip condom that comes on carts, try cutting the end off of it and putting it on the drip tip. Bite down on it a little when you inhale and you'll get tons of flavor.

Interesting. Have you tried one? I would assume they break very easily which would be a concern... Also what is tapered and non tapered?

The non-tapered is what I bought...it doesn't have a large opening in the end, which accomplishes what you are after with the cart...they are sturdy little things...they are hand blown glass, so they can break...mine is a month old and still going strong.
There is a picture in my gallery of it on my Reo.

I just tried this last night. I have never been a fan of dripping. juice would get in my mouth..stainless stell drip tip felt unnatural. So last night I got my two orders from my favorite two vendors and needed (yes needed) to taste them all so I used a blank cart and it was sooo much better. Don't know if I'm a convert yet but it wasn't bad! It didn't take that much effort to remove the cart and do the dripping IMO.

I thought about getting one of those AG. Do they heat up along with the atty? I notice that would happen with my stainless steel t-tips and it would get quite uncomfortable.
Sorry, I'm jumping in here ... AG might answer later, LOL.
I've used Delrin, Stainless Steel, the Pawns mentioned by xanas, and the Pyrex tips.
But, you only asked about the stainless steel vs. pyrex, sorry.
The SS from SuperT and the pyrex (IMO) are both outstanding. I haven't had any issues with the SS getting too hot. But, perhaps that's because I don't take really loooong draws? And I have to say, the SuperT SS are the best (by far) of the ones I've tried.

In any case, the Pyrex is always cool to the lips, in my experience.
They both do a great job at sliding the juice down and not getting it in my mouth. But I'd have to give the edge to the pyrex on that point. Plus, they're transparent ... so you can SEE what the juice is doing (nicely sliding down). But, in the future the pyrex tips will be for at-home use only.
I broke one of them when I took it to work. Yeah, stainless steel trumps it for durability, LOL.

What NCC said.

I haven't used the SuperT.
The Pyrex are always nice and cool, even when I get and LR510 as hot as I can get it.
The juice slides down the inside so smoothly...never gets hung up.
It is kinda slick to watch the vapor flow through it.

Yea I may try that out. Still have not used a carto due to not being able to find a syringe anywhere!

The pharmacy would not give me one. Said I needed a damn doctors note.

Well, you certainly wouldn't want to use a medical hypodermic syringe anyway. Way too dangerous. And I think they are a controlled item with a prescription required.

A blunt syringe of 18 to 20 gauge would be better.

Look here: Filling Syringes

I rarely use a drip tip. When I do its just to take a few drags to "unflood" a flooded atomizer. But, to me, the flavor and vapor are not affected by the larger hole.

IVE HAD A BUNCH OF DRIP TIPS (ALL 510 CONNECTIONS, ALL ON LR ATTYS), I HAVE HAD LONG AND SHORT DELRIN, LONG AND SHORT ALUMINUM, CLEAR, ETC.

MY FAVORITES ARE THE CLEAR SHORTY TIPS FROM COV. THEY ARE SHORT, NOT BIG (AROUND), AND HAVE A BIG HOLE (THAT SOUNDED BAD LOL). COV'S CHERRY TIPS LOOK GREAT AND FIT GREAT TOO, BUT THEY ARE JUST A LITTLE BIG AROUND FOR ME.

ALSO THE NHALER TWISTED TIPS LOOK GREAT AND ARE A EXCELLENT SIZE TOO, BUT THEY SEEM TO BE REALLY REALLY TIGHT FIT INTO A TYPICAL 510 ATTY, LIKE I HAVE TO PLACE THEM THEN TURN THE PV UPSIDE DOWN AND GIVE IT A SMACK ONTO A HARD SURFACE TO SEAT THE TIP. OTHERWISE THEY ARE SUPER GOOD TIPS.

My wife uses an empty blank cart to drip. It has nothing to do with taste though. She just prefers the profile of a cart to a drip tip. The taste between a delrin drip tip and a blank cart is the same in my opinion.

You don't need a syringe to fill cartos. It's easier with a syringe, but you don't need one. You just have to pull out the plastic caps to fill one.

Thank you! Yea man I have noticed the same thing. I swear it is because of the smaller hole. It isolates the smoke better in the mouth, therefore tasting much better.

How can I do it without a syringe? Once I pull the caps out the hole is so small.
