Hello all,

I'm a new mod user and purchased a Vamo V3 with a Kanger Protank 2 about 2 weeks ago (I switched from a Pro-Smoke e-Cig). After watching countless videos to make sure I wasn't ruining anything, I've switched to vaping in the VP/VW mode of the Vamo after burning up 2 coils. From what I've read, the resistance of the coil shouldn't matter a great deal after switching to the VP setting, so, hopefully I won't be torching any more coils prematurely. I'm using a 1.8-ohm coil in the protank 2, and vaped at 3.8 volts previously so it's set on 8.0 watts.

Suddenly, I'm not getting a decent cloud of vapor any more, regardless of what setting I'm on (3.8 volts or 8.0 watts) using the same 1.8 ohm coils. I do get the desired taste and throat hit, but just not much vapor at all. I've tried a few different juices at 80/20, 70/30, and even a 50/50 mix; each with the same amount of vapor. Could there be an issue with my mod, or have I borked something by burning out the two previous coils?

Thanks in advance!

I was really surprised how easy the protank/evod heads are to rebuild. I did my first a few days ago with 32ga Kanthal and 2mm silica. It's so easy and the materials are so cheap I am tempted to build a new coil each time I change flavors. I just used a paperclip to give the silica a little more backbone then did a 4/5 wrap and got a 1.9 ohm coil that is performing pretty nicely.

My mistake was I bought 28 guage Kanthal! I have some 32 on order now. I made a beautiful micro coil after watching Rip Trippers vid on it and with some practice, was pretty damn impressed with myself! lol! But when I checked the ohms though the coil read like .7 ohms and my noob status was confirmed hahahahaha! .7 ohms won't work on my MVP 2, or vision spinner and is too low for me to feel safe with my mech mod.

yea, you wont get a coud from a protank or a vamo. simply not enough air flow. also the heads have upwards of 1.5ohm for resistance. i dont think thats enough. also the vamo only allows 1.2ohms. if you want couds + performance+flavor,, your gonna need to go with a mech mod and an rba. you can find verry affordable mech/rba combos on ebay. just make sure the connections are brass or silver and youl be fine. there realy isnt any other way to get clouds i dont think.

Also check here for replacement heads. 5 pack for 5.79

For about a buck I don't bother rebuilding them. You should be able to get decent clouds with that rig (this is one of the setups I use). You won't cause your weather forecast to change with it but should get decent vapor from it.

Also, what juice are you using? That makes a difference too. The stuff I use will gunk up a head right quick.

The juices I'm currently vaping are: Cola from EC Blends (50/50), Belgian Waffle and Iced Coffee from Bombay Vaping (80/20), Purple Haze from VapeRite (50/50), and a French Vanilla that I can't remember where I got it from (70/30). I seem to get the best vapor cloud from the 50/50 blends, which I thought was the inverse of what I thought I expected to see.

I find that a lower wattage works better for me with the Protank, so you may want to try that.

You should also try removing a flavor wick or two if you have not already done so.

ok, I just rebuilt my first coil (while waiting for a couple of 5-pack new coils to arive)... I did 6 wraps of 30g Kanthal around a 3mm silica wick with no flavor wicks and it vapes tons better than the coils that came with my tank. I also followed madqatter's suggestion of vaping at a lower wattage (only down to 7.5 watts), but the flavor is more intense, too! So, it looks like I've found a really nice sweet-spot with the help of your suggestions! oh, also, the coil measured at 1.3 ohms, which is a little lower than I had expected, but the Vamo fires it without issue.

Thanks to all the experts for the advice!
