34 is way to high. it will give you headache and other bad things. 20 is acceptable at first and then lower if you see fit. i started with 18 still 18 after 1.5 years. never had an analog after my first ecig. im surrounded by people smoking everywhere and honestly i can't stand the smell and the smoke and everything smoke related. strange after 15 years of 1-2 packs per day.

Yes, it is way too high, but so was smoking the nic from 2 packs of stinkies a day. That's why I recommended it with caution. Some 1-2 PAD smokers find it hard to taper off of cigarettes because they are not getting their usual nic hit. 34 will do it at first, then they will want to taper down to 18 - 24. My recommendation is only temporary. I do not advocate everyone use 34 just for the heck of it. There is a legitimate reason 34 is available, and it's to curb the HEAVY smokers nic cravings. 34 will do it, and it will knock your socks off. But don't stay at that level long term.

I was only a pack a day smoker, but I started vaping with 24mg. It was right for me. I vaped as much and as often as I so desired. If I felt the urge for a cigarette, I vaped even more frequently.

If that didn't relieve the craving, I allowed myself PART of a cigarette, and put the rest away for the next time. Over the course of the week, those partially smoked cigs started tasting pretty gnarly and I found that I didn't want any more. By the end of the week, the pack was finished, and so was I.

Not another cig touched thereafter, and have never wanted one. I would never have believed it, but I love vaping more than I loved smoking. I've cut my nic strength down from 24mg to 12mg. I'm content at that level after 10 months of being smoke free.

So, how's the 16mg working for you?

I just wanted to add my :2c:
The first cig of the morning was the hardest for me to give up. My husband still smokes. I planned to just vape and smoke until one day I magically stopped smoking like some people do. Didn't work for me though :( After 2 weeks of trying this I finally just made up my mind and set a hard date for me to quit smoking. Although it was hard this is what finally did it for me.

As far as nic goes, here's my story on that.
I was a half a pack smoker for 5 years. I started vaping with a ripoff mall ecig and their highest mg was 12. I vaped and vaped and vaped but it was never enough. Stepped it up to 18mg (with a good juice company) and it still wasn't enough. I was always scared of higher nic but finally after chain vaping for a year I decided to step it up to 24mg. I am completely satisfied now and I only go through about 1ml a day. I do have 36mg juice around for special occasions (mostly when I'm drinking). So my advice is don't be afraid of higher nic. Try different levels until you find what makes you happy :)

As far as juice goes there are many juice vendors here on the forum. You should definitely check them out. I personally use Ms. T's Bakery and love her juice!

16 from 8 is a good jump. Challenge now is seeing wifey smoking and want to join the fun.

I got her a mod today. We will see how much she uses it but I'm optimistic.

I wouldn't think of it as a jump.
For example normal cigarettes are supposed to only provide about 10% of the total nicotine level they contain via the inhaled smoke. This is normally indicated on the box itself, tested by a standard machine test. The average is 1mg a cigarette depending on brand. However, based on researches and tests, the nicotine intake by a human from one cigarette varies from person to person and even cigarette to cigarette. It can double or treble that amount, or on the contrary, lower, depending on different factors. For example, according to one reseach, the body is capable of absorbing greater amount of nicotine in the morning from a cigarette than at other times of the day, possibly due to the higher demand for nicotine. Another example is that changing the brand of cigarettes to lower nicotine content doesn't mean you'd absorb less nicotine from that cigarette, on the contrary, more likely the same as the cigarettes with higher content. The less number of smoked cigarettes a day is the best approach.

So where does vaping stand here.... We don't know how much nicotine first of all is being transferred from the e-liquid to the vapor, depending of course on type of e-liquid. Second, this will also depend on the e-cigarette kit quality/brand/type of automizer combined with this e-liquid. And third, even if hypotetically the first two factors are the same for everybody , the personal factor of how you vape and how you inhale comes into place which may increase or limit the amount of nicotine absorbed.
So, if 8mg of juice are causing cravings and making you smoke real cigarettes, then don't be afraid to get a juice of higher nicotine content. It doesn't mean you'd be literally taking in double the nicotine content.
And on another hand, although nicotine has its big drawbacks, it actually has quite an impressive list of proven benefits and unless you intend to quit all type of nicotine products altogether, it probably makes little difference whether you vape 8mg or 18mg nicotine as far as health is concerned. It's actually the only thing that can be considered "good" in real tobacco smoking. Your body will tell you when you've had enough of it and you should eventually be able to identify the correct level. Then lower gradually once you are stable on vaping without the real cigarettes.
