Hello all. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Anyone into ham radio?

Hey Oly, I think that Jerry is or used to be. I have not seen him here lately though.

Thoughts on rayon wicking anyone ? Seems good from the few utubes I've watched.

I have heard great things about it but, have not tried it myself. There is a long thread here about it.

Looks like a nice one, Fran. A deal was posted here once for some 6X magnifying glasses. I got a pair and that is what I use if and when I change my coils.

Good night, Fran. Sleep well :)

Yup, I have a ham license but I haven't been active in over 5 years. One of these days, I should see if my Yaesu 990 still works. A noreaster destroyed my antenna farm, all that I have left is a Solarcon/Antron 99 vertical, that I can use on 10 thru 17 meters.

Oh yeah, good evening Peeps. :)

Moon I used Rayon for a while. It wicks great, you can vape just about dry and it will be as white as when you wicked it. It has a bit of a different taste but it didn't bother me, I actually liked rayon quite a bit. I just figured if I if I was going to burn something, I'd rather it be cotton

Hey Jerry, i've got a couple questions for you if you don't mind.

I've been studying for my license and am ready for Technician and General. I have been having a bit more trouble with the Amateur Extra material and wondered if it was really worth it. I'm not planning any home based antenna farm (sorry about yours) or any DX'ing. I'm starting to look into software based radios to take advantage of internet relays but don't know for sure if that is a viable path. I'm expecting to hang with the Dual band handheld at least for a bit.

I started with silica and graduated to Peaches n' Crème yarn (after a failed attempt with cotton balls)--*that* was a vast improvement.

I had not used JC until receiving the KSM with its spare cotton. I liked it but curiosity got me and and I purchased a multipack of KohGenDoh, Labo and Muji. I have only tried the KGD.

Truthfully? I have noted a remarkable improvement in wicking in the Kayfun with the KGD.

I have always had difficulty getting it to wick as I thought it should, thought it was my build, my DT, amount of wick, yadda, yadda, yadda. I have tweaked and tried this and that--y'all know this.

But with the KGD? While not perfection, it's the closest I've come.

The KSM? It wicks beautifully with the RDA regardless of the type of cotton. It gets a nod over the Kayfun for that, no primer pulls ever.

The KGD is super fluffy, puffy soft stuff and a pleasure to work with :) I will be trying the other brands as soon as I need to change out wicks but am happy--happy with the JC.

For now ;)

Good morning, y'all!
