Well I had hoped to be able to pop in and chat a bit more today, but I had laundry and 3 or 4 errands to do today.

Still trying to clear up the recurring green water in my pool. A trip to the pool place yesterday by my mom with a water sample proved that I needed a stabilizer (wth is THAT?!?!) and no amount of chlorine would work for long without it. Stabilizer, check...shock last night, check...more shock today, check! Now we wait....if it doesn't turn around soon I'm taking it down.

Frustrating to say the least but at least it isn't from lack of attention like I was feeling guilty about. What the heck is stabilizer anyways? Cyanuric acid it says on the paper....just what you want to swim in, huh?
It keeps the chlorine from dissipating before it can do it's job from what I understand. Every time I filled my pool it needed an initial dose. The chlorine tablets are stabilized chlorine but you've got to get the level up first. After that initial dose I never had to add anymore. The tablets maintained it fine. Just keep the total alkalinity up and the ph won't bounce either. Pool places test the water free for all that crap. After startup costs they're really not all that expensive or much trouble to maintain. Muratic acid is one of the chemicals used to treat the ph lol. You may once in a while get mustard algae which takes a little copper based algaecide but not often and easy to get rid of when it starts. Excessive or acid rain can throw the ph off but as long as you keep that total alkalinity right it won't bounce much. I used to take a sample in once a month, or at the first sign of a problem, and use a test kit once or twice a week to check up on things. Most problems are easy to correct if you nip them in the bud. Probably a lot easier than what you've already been doing.

Thank you Wuzz for the excellent explanation! :)
I have definitely slacked a bit this year. Usually I add a half bag of shock at start up and did not this year; just put chlorine tabs in floater. I won't make that mistake again.

It's also been raining often and they say that has a lot to do with my problem.
I've added baking soda, algaecide and an entire box of shock already, whereas I normally go through that much in the entire season. Everything else was in acceptable range except for that stabilizer. Cross your fingers!!!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I've only been in the pool 3 times so far! (Terrible! I'm a water rat most summers)

Hey guys, just a quick note. Things are not quite as bad as we feared. She will undergo surgery that will be rough to recover from but, it could be a whole lot worse. On my way to bed but wanted to be sure and stop here with an update.

Prayers for MamaGold having a quick recovery ......

Got my new compressor up and running...Everything there is El Dee spec...Was gonna build a new compressor room and use the old room for storage...After much consideration I decided to do the needed repairs too the old room and use it...There was a foundation issue and that will require me pouring a new concrete floor...Let's just say busting concrete with a sledge hammer in this heat and humidity sucks azz big time....Setting concrete blocks with 1/4 inch of headroom under the wall was also an adventure I won't soon forget...Good news is the ding dang mortar is drying under those blocks and the concrete has been removed...Dead beat and damn near outta juice...There is just never a convenient time to mix...Bet this....All those people who give me a ringy dingy at the first automotive problem......they....uhhh...They ain't offered no ASSistence....Prices in the future are ahh gonna reflect that...I keep digging and just maybe one day I can sit back and smile while that Hoss compressor runs in the compressor room.....

Salem I'm so happy to read your not as bad as feared update! Prayers for a successful surgery and complete recovery.(((hugs)))

ElDee, good for you to remember who wasn't there to help in your time of need! What comes around...
Hoping you find some time to mix soon. No juice is not a good thing! Want me to send you some?

Have a good day everyone! Madison was up most of the night blowing her nose...seems she's next in line for the summer cold. May have to take her to the docs on my day off tomorrow.

Good morning. Glad to hear your Mom isn't as bad as thought Salem. Praying for a speedy recovery. Sorry to hear about the cold Tracy. I go through a bottle of saline nose spray a week at this time of year from all the crap I mow. Really helps clear my sinuses. Hope she doesn't get it too bad. Time for me to get on the move. Hope everybody has a bodacious hump day.

Morning folks :)

Glad to hear things aren't as bad as it could have been Salem. Still, any kind of surgery is rough...prayers and positive thoughts!

Dee, that's a lot of hard work that I know you'll be glad you did.

Poor Maddie! I know how she feels, and hope she's better soon!

Morning,Bov:)

Does anyone have one of the black or white subox's? Wondering how good the kbox is.
I've got the black Subox. Nice and it's a head turner. I don't think much of the new KSM verticals though and I don't think Dee does either but the rba deck is kewl even though there's a screw to loosen and tighten to change wicks. I still haven't found anything that can hold a candle to my Egrip for comfort, vape, portability etc. I held a Kbox once...once. Probably a good device but it just didn't do anything for me. The price is right on them. Seen them as low as $19.95 and I'm betting Salem could find one cheaper than that lol.
