I would disagree for the most part.
Many from around the world have gained a better quality of life (from where they were before).
I think the problem is Americans don't want to pay $3.99 for American grown cantaloupe when we can pay 99¢ for Mexican/S. American grown.
A good friend of ours used to grow roses. South America got into the business and put him out of business. He changed from roses to hot house tomatoes.
But is that bad ???
Since our 3rd Anniversary I've bought Mrs Wharf a Rose for every year. On our 12th, the dozen cost $117. In 15 days I'll pay $69 for 31 long stem roses delivered.... But that gives me $48 more to consume more in products and services.
BTW.... My friend does quite well with Heirloom tomatoes
