Katie shows her appreciation in spurts. Her dementia is advancing, which means her lack of appreciation for anything is declining. The dementia amplifies her OCD and other personality "oddities." With her broken arm, she now can't drive, write, etc.

Hate to hear your mom is giving you and the Dr fits about her meds. Katie goes through that too.

My mom is OCD and it is getting SO much worse with age. She not only makes herself crazy with it but, makes us a little nuts too. One of the things that she decided to quit taking months ago was her antidepressant. Very bad move on her part as her anxiety, depression and OCD has intensified.

She has never been one to take meds and I do understand that side effects can be bad from some of them. Thing is that she needs to trust her doc to know that the benefits outweigh any possible side effects at some point.

I don't think that dementia has set in with my mom yet. She told the doc that she was concerned about it. He told her that when you know you have a problem, it is not a problem. It is when you don't know that you have a problem that it is a problem.

I know what you mean about the antidepressants, and I can't tell you how many times her Dr has tried to get her to take them. Katie realizes that she gets confused and forgetful, but refuses to speak to her Dr about it.

I'm kind of expecting that she is at the end of being a safe driver, especially after not being able to keep in practice for the past month. Still 2 more weeks before we see the orthopedist and hopefully get the cast off her arm.

Sheesh! My mom quit driving about 20 years ago when she was in her late 50s. She is an old time New Yorker. Never had a need to drive until she moved away in her 30s. She was never really comfortable with driving and we are very thankful that she gave it up on her own.

My Egrip is scheduled for delivery Monday according to USPS. Took forever for me to finally pull the trigger on it and now I'm getting antsy lol. Bought a standard head so I can vape it while I'm building the coil.

I am anxious to know how easy those decks are to rebuild. The vapor that they give with the standard coils is just amazing. So is the flavor.

Yikes! I just looked and it is going down to 14 degrees here next Wednesday night 8-o A cold front is headed our way for sure.

I think it said it comes with 3 pre built coils. I ordered 5 more at a buck ea. I'll see what size wire etc. it comes with, try it for a while and go from there. How long do the regular attys last on them anyway? I know it varies widely but curious.

Wow, I hadn't checked the 5 day forecast...it is gonna get cold! I finally got pushed a bit too far tonight. Our little dab of snow (1.5") has changed over to rain mix, and the temp is headed up to 55 tomorrow, but someone had a meltdown because I wasn't out shoveling. I am flat out of patience for the day  I'm holed up in my woman cave, but I hear Katie banging around downstairs...likely trying to sweep slushy snow off the stoop.

LOL, Bov. I know that it is not funny but, you have to try and laugh at it. My mom had surgery on both hands a few months back. Stitches in the middle of both hands, wrapped in bulky gauze and tape. I went to her house to find her stove pulled out and the entire place wreaked of ammonia. She had pulled out her stove and cleaned behind it! She was wearing gloves but, geez! She ended up with an infection in her right hand and I do not wonder why. She knows that we will help her with anything but, she does not like to ask. Her biggest fear has always been being a burden on us. I keep trying to tell her that it will be a bigger burden when she breaks bones and ends up living with us lol

I haven't seen Wednesday's low but the high Thursday is forecast at 30*...Un-acceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya'll beechin' about those little old ladies.....Yeah......I'm practicing just keeping my mouth shut....

Yep. 32 here for Thursday, LD. You better pay attention. This is my first experience dealing with the elderly as well. At least you will see it coming ;)

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about the part where her bottom drawer on the stove was stuck because a pan was in there preventing the drawer from opening. She had been down there trying to open it all morning. I could not get it either and I told her to wait and that DH would come the next day to fix it. I knew in my heart that there was no way that she would leave it alone until then so, I called my oldest sister and got her to stop by after work. Thank goodness that she was able to get it unstuck because my mom would not have slept that night lol

I know you have one that tries your patience too Dee! I just keep trying to remind myself that they had plenty of years of frustration from us while we were growing up  Katie may not be my momma, but she had her share of raising my ex!

I agree and like it or not, we will be there one day ourselves. Just pray that we have someone with enough patience to help us out when we get there.
