Well it rained over 3 inches today according to the neighbor who checks his rain gauge religiously....

Yeah....My flip flops got wet....

Couple days back I sowed some 7 top turnips that only produce salat....I think that's French...It's sprouting already......I mixed Purple Top with the 7 Top cause PT actually has turnips underneath the soil....Don't get me wrong nothing in my book is nastier that a turnip....Salat I gotta drench that sheet in vinegar....I planted that sheet for my Aunts and Mama...2 ounces of seed the other day....Today during a break in the rain I raked off a spot in the woodline and sowed 6 ounces of PT and 7T mixed....I added some mustard greens and kale in the edges of all that....I figure the rabbits and deer will be loving that.....and I don't care if they eat it all....Enjoy!!!

Super cool of you to be feeding the wildlife, LD :thumb: I think that most everyone here knows that I feed them all too.

The only thing that I ever tried a turnip root in is my ham soup. It is actually more like a stew and to die for. It has
rutabagas and a bunch of other root veggies as well. I make it with the leftover ham after Christmas. Even people that say they don't like turnips or rutabagas love this stuff.

I love raw turnips or roasted turnips. Cooked any other way? Nope! I got in BIG trouble with my grandfather growing up because I would see the top of a turnip sitting above the ground. I'd pull it up, walk around the house and wash it off under the outdoor faucet and eat it like an apple. I'd break off the greens and stick those back in the hole. One day, I got caught. My grandpa gave me mean looks for a day or two after that because he loved boiled and mashed turnips.

Morning folks :)

LOL, Lynn! I love boiled, mashed turnips. I bring them to a boil, pour off the first batch of water, then bring them back to boil with fresh water...and a blob of bacon grease, and a tiny dab of sugar.
That's the way my grandma and mom cooked them except they added red pepper flakes to it too.

I like beets too :)

Got the new mower put together, oil filled, gas filled, she started right up...but I have a question. Is it normal for a new engine to throw a bit of oil out the muffler area? It's dark so I'm guessing that they prime the engine with oil, then drain it before shipping...yes?

That's a lot of wood hauling, Fran!!

And yeah, the new mower did a fine job, quit blowing dark oil after a few minutes. Yard done, mower washed, dried, and put in it's new home. I pushed the old one out to the curb and put a sign on it, "Free-but I need new back wheels and some TLC" :)
