The Crown III should hit the market any day now.....
It hit 60* or so today and I saw an 80* waiting at the end of the 5 day forecast...Been bring the Tacoma up to spec...Got the front brakes upgraded with zinc plated, drilled and slotted rotors....carbon fiber, metal free pads....checked the back brakes and they look good for a while yet...the custom fabricated exhaust system it came with is now resting in the scrap metal pile...cut the welded hangers off the frame and trailer hitch.....ground welds smooth and painted....replaced the exhaust with a Flowmaster 50 series muffler and stainless steel pipes....The Taco is a little raspy sounding but no more clanging exhaust every time you go off road....There's a nice polished stainless tip on the exhaust and it now exits near the factory location...Free flowing exhaust made the Taco idle low and sometimes cut off....I traced that to a carbon build up in the idle air control valve in the
throttle body that also was carboned up pretty good....carbon deposits in idle air control valves = poor fuel mileage.....hard starts....low idle rpms... Idle rpm is computer controlled these days.....non adjustable....I got a factory specified 750 rpms when hot and the Taco is purring...Fuel mileage looks to be improved as well as a little boost in power....Fitting that exhaust and removing what had been done was frustrating at best....I hung in there and got it all done....pretty happy with the results so far....That ding dong custom grille someone added is hitting the old scrap pile real soon....
