That's right Cuz Wuzz!

I like to kiss my little girls all over their faces in the morning so they know Poppa lubs them!

Hey, good morning kids! Another rainy day down this way. Sure glad I don't have a basement!

I've always wondered why they built houses with basements in them. I guess years ago when people had coal furnaces up north it was probably necessary ..... do they still have basements with the newer homes?

I'm certain the homes in Floorduh don't have basements. The only homes from there that I've ever seen all had wheels on them.

Lolz. Not all have wheels Tex but most don't have basements. Our water table is so high they'd just float up out of the ground like empty swimming pools do. A lot of the houses along the river in Jacksonville have basements. We have to build our cemeteries on high ground to keep relatives from popping up unexpectedly. When we lived in NJ in the 40s we had a basement complete with a coal fired furnace and coal bin., I've seen some converted into pretty decent recreation rooms.

Aha!!! A basement recreation room up north!!

Now these basements are making sense!!

They build the rec room underground so they don 't have to look out the window at all that snow!!

Okay, I understand now!

Thanks Cuz Wuzz!!!!

Morning ladies and gents :)

Salem I have more stuff added to my wish list on FT!

The furnace here used to be coal, still have the coal shoot in the wall. Bob and Katie had the furnace changed out for a natural gas one many years ago.

The water is not seeping in too bad so far, so today I get to move more mountains of snow away from the east side foundation

Mom's house has a basement....built so with criminal intent...Another Uncle built it when he returned from WWII....There is a chimney squarely in the middle of the basement...Runs thru the roof and there's no connection inside the house....No coal furnace here......liquor still !! He's the Unc that got caught...An old cat that was around then said they ran liquor thru a big submarine still on the creek and then ran it in the basement thru a high dollar all copper still....In the old days running 4X would yield @190 proof if you knew what you were doing...Today's design yield 190 proof from a single run....Low and slow!!! Couple of years back the owner of the land where the submarine sat cleared the land...There were brick bats everywhere from when the cops blew it up...I picked up many a bucket load of brick bats using my Kubota too haul them....That's also where I found the prized little milk bottle Unc used as a taster....Unc got prison time....Mom's house was foreclosed on....Grandad owned the land and had signed at the bank for the construction loan...Much to my Dad's dismay Mom came in and bought the house....Unc's kids saw things differently.....Guessing Unc thought Grandad should have kept up his payments while he was away....Running a farm is hit or miss and quiet frankly the reason Grandad didn't have much money was due to Unc and his evil ways....When Grandma died and the farm stuff was being divided one of Unc's sons had some not so nice comments about Mom...I followed Grandma out of her house and never did go back so I wasn't there for the division...I politely refused to go...Well word about the comments quickly came to me.....Next time the family gathered I walked straight up too old boy and knocked two of his teeth out....He deserved it....and I got a nice scar to remember the day....teeth can be sharp...

Bravo El Dee!!! Bravo!!

Like I've said before, some people just go around asking for it!

I've got a big scar on the back of my right hand from a fella's jawbone.

This happened down in Tucson in the early 1960's, but his mouth accidentally got between my fist and a 4" X 4" that was holding the ceiling of the bar up. After his jaw hit the 4 X 4 and broke, I came back with a right back hand and his broken bone which was sticking out the right side of his face caught the skin of my hand and cut it open.

Then I was really mad!!

There's a little more to that story so I might just as well go ahead and tell it.

So, this old boy and I are standing in front of the Judge and this other guy has this metal halo around his head with all these wires going into his mouth. He looked like an old time banjo. I'd have liked to strum a few tunes on his wires, but I behaved myself.

The Judge was a real nice guy, but he came to the conclusion that I should pay to have this guys face fixed. The total bill was around three thousand dollars. And this was back in the day when my bank account ran between nothing and twenty dollars.

But a Loan Company in Tucson helped me out and we got it all taken care of.

I had to pay for a few years on that guys face though.

Thank goodness for that or I have a feeling that you would be shoveling coal right now

Oh my gosh, shoveling coal AND shoveling hard packed snow in addition to digging ditches for outside water run-off.

There ain't many women like you Bov!

And I sure as heck wouldn't want to wrestle you!

You'd have my bahonkas whipped in less than a minute!!!
