Blah. I am too depressed to really even be posting here but, I wanted you guys to know that onc says mom does not need chemo. It was contained within the colon, nothing in her lymph nodes or blood vessels. Anyway, they got it all, only stage 2 and no need for chemo. She will have to be closely monitored. So, this is great news and I should be doing happy dance BUT WTH did she do when we stopped at the store on the way home???? Bought a freaking pack of cigs!!!! 35 days today vaping and cig free. She was ecstatic about the no chemo thing so was not stressed but she freaking bought cigs. Most likely increases the odds of the cancer metastasizing greatly.

Thanks for listening.

I'm so happy to hear that there is no need for chemo, and the cancer was all removed! As for the cigs, nothing you can do to change that Salem. I'm sorry that your mom made that decision, but you've done everything you can to encourage vaping. Don't beat yourself up.

Sorry to hear about the cigarettes Salem.....Glad her condition isn't worse....

The last few days caring for Mom have been total BS...I erased a paragraph with the details....I got an Aunt who fills Mom's head with hate for everyone here.....Long/short it's time for her old witch azz to watch out....She's gonna feel the rage of a Hell driven demon...The clock is ticking

After all that I managed to just keep breathing and working on my shop...Air is done minus some tweaking...It's all first rate stuff and I should be able to ride this system for the duration of my career...Truck passed inspection...I didn't opt for a trip too the DMV....that's gonna have to wait for my patience too return...date on my tag be damned!!!!! It's been a lot of hard work lately...time too enjoy some of the fruits....

Hey LD, believe it or not as small as my family is, we have a sheet stirrer among us as well. She has been wreaking pure havoc through all of this.

Thanks for all of the support, guys. I am not beating myself up though. I am ......! Sure, my mom is 78 years old and makes her own decisions but, it is the rest of us that get to pay the price. We are the ones that have to care for her once she is on a feeding tube from the COPD and oxygen 24/7. She just refuses to do anything that the docs tell her to do. then wants to complain that docs don't do anything for her. She will not take her meds ( toxic to her body but never mind the toxins in the cigs) or use her nebulizer. She will not even carry a rescue inhaler ( says they do nothing for her) and then when she has an episode not being able to get her breath, it is us that have to panic and try and help her with no tools to do so! Her quality of life would be so much better with very little effort on her part. She has been convinced that she is at deaths door for at least 20 years. Her pulmo doc just told her last week that he could fill the exam room with 50 year olds that are not in as good of shape that she is.

She was on insulin the entire time in the hospital and was already close to having to go on insulin before hand. She still buys and eats cake, candy, etc like crazy! Now she does a little better here only because I make healthier stuff and once the junk that she bought at the store runs out, there is nothing else here. DH and I eat nothing but healthy food.

Her breathing has been so much better and her voice actually got stronger. I dropped her at her house yesterday to spend the night and get a few things done. I was supposed to go back and get her this morning. She called and wants to stay one more day and she had the darth vader thing going on again already! She can barely talk from being so winded.

I think that I got it all out of my system now. Thanks guys and I hope that you all have a great day :)

Salem I do understand and completely agree with you. I went through similar situations with my Dad, and I too was furious and for the same reasons.

Vent here all you want. We totally get it!

My mom is starting to get frustrated with the diabetic diet and cheat a little. So far it isn't much but it's worry some bc it's only been a week or a little more! Yikes! I get ya girl, I really get ya! (((Hugs))) hang in there

Hey, cheating a little here and there will probably work out okay. It is eating junk all of the time that would be a disaster. I think that if we totally deprive ourselves of any type of food that we love, it just makes us want it more. It does for me anyway.

DH and I have been eating like a diabetic for about 9 months now. Small portions several times a day and never, ever have any type of carb without a protein to balance it out. Even if we eat a piece of fruit, we have 5 unsalted almonds to balance the sugar. That way there are no blood sugar ups and downs. We just got blood work results at doc appt on Thursday and it is incredible at how good it looks since eating this way. Not to mention that extra weight just melted right off :)

I have found tons of sugar free/ high protein/ low fat desserts that actually taste good. Hopefully your mom will find her way on what to eat and what works best for her. My mom used to be very good about keeping her diet in check.

She is depressed and the med that she has been on has quit working. Hopefully she will be open to trying something new. Next time we see her internist, I am going to bring the subject up. It just gets very frustrating to watch is all. Especially when you know that they are smart enough to know better. ;)

We're here for you to vent Salem, well for everyone. I know it has helped me sometimes.

I know, (((oly))) it helps me more than you guys know. ;)

Hey Bov, don't think that I mentioned DH is having the same procedure as you are on Tuesday. His is just routine though.

Part of my problem is probably that because our family is so small, my sisters and I have never dealt with anyone in the family aging until now. This is a first for us.

Hope it goes well for your hubby, Salem. Mine is Thursday, and prep day Wed is supposed to be in the 90s. That will really be exhausting with no ac downstairs.

Dealing with the aging parents is hard, and I'm learning as I go with Katie. I understand the frustration of trying to balance what we want for them, with what they want to do, even when it's not good for them.

OMG, my Dad did the same thing Goldie. The Dr finally asked him why do you come here if you aren't going to do as I ask ?

I'm so glad to hear about the great part of the news for your mom.

I sure couldn't like those posts Salem. I can't believe she went back to cigarettes after that long. Sure glad to hear about the cancer though. We've been fighting DW's for almost two years now and it's growing again. I went through a lot of what you're going through with both my Mom and Sister. When we cleaned out Mom's house we found her "stash" of Capri's. My Sister set herself on fire by lighting up a cigarette with her oxygen running and had to be airlifted. She never recovered from that one. Frustration and anger don't describe what you're going through. Prayers for you, your Sisters and your Mom.
