Other than Central Coast up to the Oregon border, the rest of the state runs on central air and heat. We have electric cooling and gas for the heater. Central air is great (other than $500 to $700 month bills), blowing nice cold air.The heat not so much. It does warm you up but it dries everything up too. Other than a couple times on the coast I've never used a radiator. I was gifted one this summer. It's a 2' x 3' portable. Mrs Wharf has a bad cold and it's been pretty cold here the last few days, at night in the low 50s [emoji39] Yes… That is cold here. We've been running the radiator about 74° upstairs in the bedroom. It is so much more comfortable than central heat. Doesn't dry you out, it just keeps the room, like Goldilocks, just right.

My sister in Santa Cruz B & SIL Built a 8000 sf 2 story home in the southern Santa Cruz Hills. They put radiant heating throughout all the floors upstairs and downstairs. It's 2 - 4" ? PVC in concrete with a huge boiler in the basement. It's all computerized and you can heat any individual room. Well we went over a few months after it was finished. The living room is 2000+ square feet with 25 foot ceilings. The back wall looks out over a sloping Valley down to the Pacific ocean and the whole wall is glass windows. It was a cold late morning when we entered the house and the windows were open. I braced for the cold, but the room temperature was perfect. It was even more Goldilocks then our bedroom, you couldn't feel heat couldn't feel cold… Amazing

I'm gonna get that when I grow up [emoji13]

For all of us that have served let me thank you all for your well-wishes. I had posted this somewhere else:

The thing is most of us were/are honored to be a part the military. Serving this country isn't just a job for most, it is part of who we are. This country is the best in the world (yes that is my opinion) regardless of the issues we all have to deal with.

It got down into the 20*s last night....I waited until the last moment to get the logs cleaned and rolling...79* in the crib when I got up....I'd say my cheap as possible way of heating is working pretty damn good....

Radiant in the floor heating uses either 1/2 or 3/4 pex piping most of the time....Works most best with houses on concrete slabs....I've seen set ups using solar for heat and earth thermal for cooling....Just so you know "most best" is El Dee bonics....I have other examples....

Off here in a bit for a lunch honoring my late Great Grandmother....My Sis carries her name....Molly....I was supposed to be a pall bearer at her funeral....Somewhere around 21 at the time I overdosed the night before..That was the darkest moment in the book of Dee...Somehow I righted the ship and sailed on...Not gonna say I did it with no help but I always did think it most important to have a skill set allowing me to thrive on my own....So I apprenticed as a plumber then a carpenter and when a gig became available at a body shop I took that....Now my reputation around the body shop is pretty good....there will always be those who will never let me live down my past but such is life...They can't match my skill set nor accomplishments and if that is the way they choose to best me so be it....So today we honor Molly Wood....I have two empty cans of Tube Rose snuff and an old toothbrush she used to dip it....I'm gonna set them beside her picture at the luncheon....Dee

Dee, yep! There are folks that can never let the past stay in the past.

Amen to that, sister!!! ^^^^

mark, I am glad that SMY stepped up to the plate but very disappointed in Ecig. I am going to put the word out.
Thank you so very much for the coffee!!! My sister has been staying with me for a few weeks and she, along with DH and myself have truly enjoyed it for the past three mornings. Can't say that I like one better than the other though. :)

Yeah, the heat was restored pretty fast. It was a blown fuse in the unit under the house. Thank goodness because it has been darn chilly at night here. We do have a wood burning fireplace and space heaters if it would ave come to that though. But, it always goes in threes with us. Friday evening (same day that we had heater issue) our freaking dishwasher bit the dust. Ugh! Just waiting to see what comes next.

Good news is that it is actually raining right now :)
