Cuzzo and I rode too Maiden, N.C. yesterday....Maiden is between Charlotte and Hickory and as last week barely in the Great Smokey Mountains....03 Dodge Ram 3500 in silver with the high output Diesel engine paired with an automatic transmission....92,000 on the clock....Owner said not a scratch and absolutely no modifications....Truth is there were 2 holes drilled into the dash top where a tuner had been...A tuner adds mega horsepower....The auto transmission is barely capable of living behind the diesel....add a tuner and you can expect to be in @$7500 for an auto that will live....Trans shifted fine but I was suspect....Eight digit in the vin code indicates engine....C indicates 325 hp high output...that's what I want.....6 indicates 305 standard output....There was a C in the 8th on the build sticker....the sticker on the engine had a 6 indicating standard output...not a match....what happened to the 325 hp engine???? Again I suspect the tuner got the engine....Lack of attention to detail was also shown as a simple change of the engine covers would have kept the correct number on the truck and hidden the engine change....Tires had excellent tread but dry rot cracks near the rims on all 6 tires and we gotta get it get it down Interstate 85 right off the bat....65psi in the tire....80 plus speeds on the interstate...blow out potential extremely high.....Long/short we rode 3 hours each way and came home empty handed....
