Hi everyone - I want to start by saying that this thread is not meant to sound like a troll or anything. It's just my newbie opinion! But regards something that's been kind of getting on my nerves, lol.

So often on this forum, I see someone say they've just ordered their first e-cig kit ever and happen to mention it's a 510. Almost *always* people start chiming in that the 510 battery life stinks and they will want to "upgrade" to EGo, Riva, etc etc etc.... and generally recommend all kinds of "bigger battery" e-cigs.

I just want to speak for myself here (but there are probably others like me, somewhere). I am perfectly HAPPY with just a very few items. First of all, my Yeti 510. I go alllllll day long with just 4 items: My 510 pv, a PCC, a spare battery, and a bottle of juice.

I recharge the PCC unit itself every night before bed, that way it's ready for the next FULL day of recharging my batteries. A typical (vaping) day for me consists of vaping HEAVILY (I almost never put my pv down) for about 3-4 hrs, put the depleted battery in the PCC, take the recharged one out, put a few drops in my cart. I repeat this process about 3-4 times a day. Because the batteries I use only take about an hour to recharge, I'm confident in knowing they will be completed recharged by the time I need the next one.

I admit, it does take a MINUTE to do and I *could* completely remove this process entirely from my day by getting a bigger battery that will last all day on one charge. But, to me, the process takes so little time to do (about the time it takes to open a box of cigs, pull one out and fish out a lighter) that it's not a big deal.

I guess my point in this post is - when someone is *brand new* to vaping and come here excitedly proclaiming their first order - don't make them feel bad for ordering a 510 by telling them about all the bigger brighter models they could get instead. It's not a sub-standard device, it just requires an extra battery and a PCC to go along with it (for convenience and non-stop vaping).

Okay, so there's my little .02 cents on this. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Good points Jessara. Especially about putting down a new vaper's purchase of a standard 510.
That's a bit rude and deflating. I haven't witnessed that as much as I have seen criticism of other, clearly inferior PVs.
A LOT of us started out with a standard 510 or a KR-808D-1.

As you said, there's nothing wrong with them, they are what they are. On the other hand, it is also true that most people soon seek longer battery life and end up buying a device which will last more than an hour or two of vaping on a charge.

It's good that you're happy with your setup and I'm sure you aren't alone.
I've got PVs with bigger batteries now, but I STILL use my KR808D-1 sometimes. :)

No offense taken, Jessara. I happen to think that you're right. The only time I would ever step in on someone's purchase is with those overpriced mall and online "e-cigs" that definitely have nothing to offer the first time vaper. I recommend the bigger batts to first timers if they say that they're already smoking a pack or more per day. That's because those batteries will last 6-8 hours between charges and might work better for the heavy smoker. Again, that's only a recommendation. If they buy a 510 or a KR808 or a Smoke Stik or what have you, that's fine. Some people don't know that there are different sizes of batteries out there that might be more convenient for them. They've only seen the analog look-alikes. It's JMHO, but in cases like that I think it's a good idea to let them know that there are options out there, make suggestions and let the user make the decision.

I never jump in and say someone needs a big eGo just because the battery life on a 510 is wack, as far as cig-sized batteries go, the KR808d-1 is much better. I myself prefer cig-sized and use the 808 out and about, unless it's a long trip or i need a 6v hit.

But for someone who smokes about 5 cigs a day, the 510 battery will hold up :D

LOL folks! Maybe I should have mentioned that I smoked for almost 27 yrs, and at one point was smoking as much as 3 packs per day. My first "hit" on my 510 was my LAST "hit" on an analog. Other than the week we had to wait for a replacement wall charger when we first got into all this, I have not touched (or even wanted) a single analog. As I DID mention, I puff on my pv pretty much NON-STOP all day (I almost never put it down). Sometimes I even blow on the battery to cool it down so I can take another hit right away. Even vaping like that, my batteries last 3-4 hrs before I need to put the recharged one in.

Edit: @ uba egar - LMAO! :p

I enjoy using my 510 as well. There are certain instances where its just more convenient than my ego. I normally have a couple of fully charged 510 batts, along with my 2 egos, with some juices attys, filled cartos, along with a couple of spare attys.

I myself was not happy with only my 510 batts, but have to agree that the PCC helps a ton!

Its great that you are happy with the 510. Its a great e-cig. Its also great that all the parts work with a Riva, or ego, for someone that simply wants to upgrade battery life. All parts can be used on both. The chargers are the only things that are specific.

Yep, uba - I'm all good to go now! Got 4 batteries, the PCC, wall-charger, 4 atty's (more on the way as I type), tons of blank carts for when my new juices get here. Even have 3 bottles of juice and more on the way.

Heard that lol. Sounds like you got it figured out. Good luck to you.

Cartridges ? really ? lol. Have you tried cartomizers before ? They last a tonne longer. People tend to either use those or atomizers, not many cartridge users now.

Just noticed you were in Oklahoma too, i see more and more everyday :D

Maybe I used the wrong term? I use an atty and what *I* call a cart (the mouthpiece with the filler in it that I refill with juice).

Nice to see another Oklahoman!

It's funny a year ago just about everyone was telling everyone to get a 510. This was before the ego. I used to love my 510 and still use my 5 volt PT when at home. I didn't really use my PCC that much maybe twice. I just had four batteries and two chargers and roted two on and two off. I gave them to a friend when I started making mods. But the 510 was a great start for me. I went cig free the day it showed up and haven't had a cig in close to a year.

Happy Vaping I'm glad you found something that works for you.

FIVE (5) Joye 510 compatible e-Cigarette blank cartomizers (Manufactured by Boge)

These are the regular cartomizers, you can use those, the Low Resistance ones are amazing but you can't use those on a regular 510 battery because they will damage them

See, there ya go, trying to change my very happy ways! Shame on you! LMAO, just kidding ;)

Seriously though, my husband made a friend on another forum and he is sending us each a pre-loaded carto with a juice the guy really likes for us to try. It will be my first experience with a carto, so we'll see how it goes. As it stands atm, I'm happy with using an atty. Because I use a ptb-straw mod I get LOTS of vape for 3-4 hrs off one fill of juice.

To be honest, what I've read about carto's kind of has put me off. Then again, I could just be misunderstanding their usefulness. But it sounds to me like they are a PITA to refill - certainly more of a process than just pulling off the tip and dropping in juice like I do now with my atty/cart. I also don't like the idea of feeling I'd need to carry around a bunch of spare cartos when I go out for the day. I vape A LOT, almost constantly, and I hate the idea that I might be left high and dry with a carto (and have to go through a much longer process refilling one). Again, I might just be misunderstanding the whole process.

Edit: Oh I forgot to mention also - I like just being able to carry the pv I'm using and my PCC when I go out. The pcc hold 1 battery (recharging), 1 atty/cart assembled, and 2 carts. Since I'm getting into more flavors, I like that I can carry the two loaded carts in the PCC for quick changing. I'm pretty sure if I switched to carto's I would only be able to carry ONE of those in my PCC.

You'll see when you use some cartomizers, they last a LOT longer than a cartridge, and they are a piece of cake to fill these days :)

New to vaping, I've been using a 510 for two weeks now only because of recommendations I found on this forum. If anything, I think the 510 is talked up here a tad more than it deserves - I'm lucky to get a half hour of heavy vaping from a battery. But the naysaying here gave me a heads up on the worst to expect and it was a selling point for me to know I could upgrade to mega batteries or an eGo. I needed both the positives and the negatives to make an informed decision on what to buy and what to do with what I'd bought. I'm not saying, I'm just saying...
