Nothing wrong with the 510... it's what I started on, and it did the trick to get me off analogs. It was my "one and only" for the first 2 or 3 months. Eventually, though, I just wanted... more. More battery life, more vapor, more *oomph*, for lack of a better word.

That said, I still have a couple of wall chargers, a PCC, and about nine 510 batteries around. Two charged 510 batteries take up very little room in my "day kit", and they're a nice security blanket to have. A backup for my backup :)

Still, I do recommend to anyone who smokes over a pack a day, and doesn't have an "I hafta hafta hafta have something EXACTLY like a cigarette" obsession, that they leapfrog the 510 and go straight to an ego/riva or a mod. Most heavy smokers eventually do. I was told that when I first started, didn't believe it, and here I am with a drawer full of 510 batteries, lol.

Either way, if you stick to the 510 forever or move on to bigger things, the 510 is by no means a *bad* unit... it is what it is. And even with it's short battery life, it does still produce some killer vapor.

You know, that might be it. Well the 510 I have doesn't *look* anything like a "real cigarette" - it's all black with a blue light at the end. But, it is about the same diameter of a cig and just a little longer than a "100". I think that is part of the appeal for me. I think the "box" types are clunky-looking, and my husband's BB does let him vape all day long (if not longer) on a single charge, but I've hit it a couple times and it's just not comfy in my hand like my little 510 is.

I still disagree with the statement that "those who smoke more than a pack a day" need a bigger battery. As I think I've mentioned here, I smoked for almost 27 years and smoked an average of 2 packs a day for most of those years (3 packs a day for a few of those). When I first got the Yeti 510, I was smoking about a pack and a half a day. It just comes down to convenience, I guess. I really don't mind taking the whole minute it takes to change a battery a few times a day. Others don't want that hassle, and I understand that.

The original idea behind my first post here was not really to discuss what is better, because as we all know, different strokes for different folks. My main point was simply if I had come here the day I ordered my Yeti 510 and posted what was coming in the mail, and 10 people came to my thread telling me (because of how much I smoked, etc) that I wouldn't be happy with the Yeti because the battery is too small - I would have been upset thinking I'd wasted my money because I was brand new to all of this. And I have seen variations of this happen on this (and other) forums. In fact, that's kind of what spurred this post to begin with. Someone had mentioned ordering a 510 and someone down the thread told them (basically) "that's great! You'll probably be wanting to move up to a bigger battery soon" and started raving on their personal favorite. If someone ASKS, or says they aren't happy with their 510, then that's cool. But not *everyone* is Tim Taylor and has just GOTTA have bigger bigger bigger and more more more. Just food for thought.

I have 4 fully charged 510's on hand all the time. I love them for quick trips to the store, stealth vaping, airplanes, etc. Often find myself reaching for one and a drip tip when I want to try out some new juices. I don't recall seeing anyone slam the 510. It is a little workhorse.

I do recall seeing people (me included) recommend a larger battery IF the person ASKS and IF the person indicates they are a heavy smoker. I often see people come here to ask about upgrading to a larger battery from their 510's. For that reason, IF they are going to purchase a PV, I will often recommend a larger battery.

Some people don't like the larger batteries. Some prefer the 510 because it feels more like a cigarette. I still like the feeling of a 510 in my hand :) If they say they want something that looks and feels like a real cigarette, I will Not recommend one of the larger battery PV's. I think it is important to try to help the person find what they want, and to be made aware of options available to them. Sometimes they come here and are not really sure how to ask or what to ask for. I understand. Been there. Done that. - LOL

Thanks for posting this.
Happy Vaping,
Paula

I've only ever used the 510, so I don't have much or anything to compare it to. I don't really have any complaints about the battery life. Mainly because when I got mine it came with four batteries, and a bunch of other stuff with the starter pack. I can see how having just one would be annoying though. Because the battery life really isn't that great. But that depends on the vapor. If you continually vape, I don't think any battery out their is going to last a full day without a recharge. If you can vape with some control and put it down once and a while. The standard 510 battery can lost a bit longer then a hour. The thing is with these E-cigs, no one seems to want to stop. They just want to vape, and vape, and vape. I think that is partially do to the fact that people don't think they are as harmful as tobacco, and at first they are not as satisfying. But really anything you are putting into your lungs that is not supposed to be there, is not healthy. Be it the nicotine, flavorings, Pg, or Vg etc.. I think that once people start to realize this they might tend to slow down on it a little.

+1, i completely agree and that has stuck in my craw for the longest time.

for most people, having to charge a battery every 3,4 hours isn't a big deal. if you're at work or something you won't be vaping it dry anyway, especially if you work in a retail environment. and battery life at home or in the car is easily solved with a passthrough.

i've been guilty of this, we all have at one point in our lives. but you are 100% correct.

i 100% agree with you too. if i smoked as much as i vape, i'd be dead by now. i do kinda like having that cutoff that tells me "hey, slow down". i've gotten a big battery and lately my gf has had to literally tell me to stop because i just sit and mindlessly vape for so long.

what they need to do is invent a battery that cuts you off after like 5 or 6 minutes, the time it takes to smoke a cig, and you can set a timer so that it will only work again after a set time. it's so easy to just pick it up and keep going...

LOL! I know what you mean! I'm guilty of vaping like mad all day long. There are probably 2 or 3 times a day that I can convince myself to just put the #%@ thing down for 5 or 10 minutes. But then it just magically jumps back in my hand and stays there until my next moment of realization. It IS for this reason that I have ordered some *much* lower mg juices that should be here this week. If I'm gonna vape like this, it's time to cut down the nic intake for sure.

Not everyone who smoked 1.5 PAD is the same. I smoked 1.5+ PAD (of lights for the last decade) and smoked for decades and I'm doing fine on another dissed unit, the M401. With carts. Sure the carts are finicky sometimes but I enjoy being able to mix in the cart on the fly if I feel like flavoring my tobacco. It has a 210mah battery - not a KR8 class but decent battery life. I can charge a spare at my desk or in my PCC on the go. Not a huge hit but it works for me.

One time I saw a new person come and say they smoked 7-8 cigarettes per day and someone immediately told them they needed an Ego. Another person said they had to be able to vape handsfree under a car and someone told them to get an Ego.

It's not really that the 510's are getting "dissed". But almost every reference I have seen made to them (advice asked for or NOT), it's always the same... "The 510 is great to start out with, but......" and so begins the eGo/Riva/kr808 sales pitch. What *really* bugs me is the, "if you only smoke 5-6 cigs a day the 510 is just for you" or worse yet, "if you smoke more than a pack a day, you'll need more than the 510 can offer" (and of course, again starts the eGo/Riva/kr808 sales pitch).

BTW, I have nothing against the Riva/eGo/kr808's. In fact, someday I'll probably give a Riva a try (mostly because I like the *look* of it, lol). Everything I've read about each of those sounds like they are a great device. But so is the 510.

Do you think these people are getting a commision by recommending an ego? What gain do they achieve if the answer is no. A basic 510 battery blows compared to an ego is the reason. When you get an ego starter kit the first thing you see on th instruction manual is "Houston, we've solved the problem". Th cart is the same, so is the atty, and the juice, oh god... Must be the battery.. Unless you like the prefilled....

People post here to here experienced peoples replies. Which I'm sure is the reason you did... Read the first post after yours, it's right....

Dude, you REALLY need an ego!!!!!

I've never once said that the 510 battery is *better* than the eGo/Riva/kr808 etc. What I have said is that not everyone *cares* if their battery lasts 3 hrs or all day long. What I've also said is that with my 510, a PCC with a spare battery charged up, I'm good all day long too - only difference is, I take ONE minute to change my battery a few times a day. Wow, that's such hard work.

Secondly, I'm a Dudette, tyvm. :)

Nice post, Jessara. I totally get what you're saying. No model is going to be perfect e-cig for every person. If someone is asking for recommendations, then pushing whatever model you like makes perfect sense; however when someone else is talking about their newest purchase or what they enjoy they should be able to do so without people raining on their parade.

I actually have 2 disposable 510s and love them. Disposables were my way of testing the waters. I will order more equipment as soon as my budget allows--510s. After smoking from age 9-36, I'm perfectly pleased with the 510.

People mean well. I think it's just like anything else. When you're passionate about something and have had a great experience with it, you want to pass it on so that someone else can have that type of experience, too.
