Nothing wrong with standard 510

New to vaping, I've been using a 510 for two weeks now only because of recommendations I found on this forum. If anything, I think the 510 is talked up here a tad more than it deserves - I'm lucky to get a half hour of heavy vaping from a battery. But the naysaying here gave me a heads up on the worst to expect and it was a selling point for me to know I could upgrade to mega batteries or an eGo. I needed both the positives and the negatives to make an informed decision on what to buy and what to do with what I'd bought. I'm not saying, I'm just saying...

Only a half-hour of heavy vaping?? Do you mean the battery dies after only a half-hour, or do you mean a heavy plume of vapor on exhale for only a half-hour of use? If it's the latter, I found that using the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/52430-ptb-straw-mod-ptb-made-easy.html mod for my cart gives me huge plumes of vapor until my battery dies (about 3-4 hrs). Just a thought.

Even tho I have several mods (box, ProVape, GLV2, Egos) I still use the 510 !!! I think they each have their own place in my life !

I mean the e-cig is in use, me puffing away until my cigarette jones goes away, and the battery (manual) is dead after 20 minutes to a half hour... plumes may vary.

Holy cow, Reggie! I don't know how you burn through a battery THAT fast! lol

I'm a non-stop vaper. I seriously vape probably every two minutes and my batteries last me 3-4 HOURS. If I "puffed" on mine any more often, the atty gets hot and needs to cool for a minute. I also use a manual battery.

Jessara, it also makes a difference in HOW you vape. If you take short puffs 30x per hour you won't burn through a charge nearly as fast as if you take 5-6 second draws 120x per hour. That, plus as the batteries go through their service life, their charge time decreases over time.

I'm lucky like the OP I guess, in that my standard batts are lasting 2 to 3 hours. I know mine are Joye and not some generic brand, so maybe they are of better quality. I also have a mega battery that I haven't drained completely yet, so no idea how long it lasts.

When I go to work I carry one 510 and this as back up:

I have a PCC, but this fits in my pocket easier and is more than enough to last me.

I work in a bar, so with the white 510 most people never even notice I'm using a PV. Sometimes when we aren't busy I'll use a black 510 or a different colored tip, because then I don't mind spending the time to explain what it is. Otherwise, just blending in is easier.

At home I primarily just use a passthrough. Though there is no in-line battery, so I think they need to come up with a new name lol.

I've been hearing a lot more good reviews on cartos lately, so think I may try those soon too.

Hmm, I generally take 4-6 sec draws and probably 60+/hr. A couple of my batteries are about 3 weeks old, a couple more are a week old - so they are all pretty new. That must be the difference.

I think I'm gonna go buy a small bag of really small colored rubber bands (like for hair). Thanks for showing me your pic!

Jessara, for sure the atties get hot - so I switch to a new one to give the heated one a break. But every two minutes? I haven't timed it (yet) but I'd be surprised if I go 20 seconds between vapes. In my defense, once that urge for an analog has passed, I can go a half hour or more (nyuk...)

Aw Reggie, I didn't mean to make ya feel you had to defend yourself. I think I was just shocked by the thought of how much it would drive me NUTTY (ok, nuttier) to change my battery every 1/2 hr. If I had to do that, I *would* change up to a longer-life battery, lol.

These last few posts got me curious so I started watching the clock whenever I took a drag. OMG yeah, I'm going about 40 seconds, IF THAT, between drags - not the 2 min I THOUGHT I was going. Geeeez I *really* need to switch to a lower mg nicotine if I'm gonna "puff" that dang much! LOL!

I have a 510 and still use it (loan it out to friends and family) lol for me the lr atty/carto made all the differance... but that's just me I now use an ego with lr's or a high voltage mod I have used my standard 510 with 2.0 restance cartos with no ill effects... so far

Yeah, I got the rubber bands in the hair product section of Walmart. They came in a pack with 3 different sizes, so the small ones I put on the carts and the bigger ones I put on the bottles to match them together.

Surprizingly, not that much. Perhaps 3-4ml? But I don't "puff" like I described ALL the time. Sometimes I can manage to set my Yeti down for 5 or 10 minutes. LOL

I lke the eGo simply because it looks like a cigar, always loved a good cigar,
nobody around me did , so mostly smoked cigs.
Use an old Macanudo box for my juice. Ahh, the bad old days.....

Yeti is a brand name of the standard 510 sold at AltSmoke.com.

Hehe, I don't know if I'd call myself a "veteran" just yet. But I have settled in nice and comfy with my 510. I'm still using atomizers/carts but should be getting a cartomizer in the mail soon. Not sure if I'll be making that switch or not - we'll see!

Nice and comfy is good, if you found something you like. Half the posts in the general disucssion sections is about how the ONLY way to vape is ,<fill in the blank> 510, 801, ego, 901, Leo, 808, mod, LR, HR, atty, carto, drip, 3.2v, 3.7v, 5.v, 6v,with <favorite flavor>

If you found a setup you like, that's half the battle.
