This is so funny! I've been vaping for a week and a half and on my 5th day of no analogs....yesterday, NOTHING TASTED GOOD! All I could taste was like a waxy feel in my mouth, I thought for sure I was done for. I tried different carts and direct dripping, nothing worked...but when I woke up this morning EUREKA! I could taste again....sounds like it will probably happen again from checking out how long some of you have been vaping.

Best advice I have is drink a ton of water, it kinda speeds it along.

I've been drinking a LOT of water today and my taste is coming back...finally after 3 days. The RY4 I love is again becoming that rich creamy vapor I desire.

And I have to mention this...could be a complete coincidence tho. I've been using those Crest white strips since I stopped smoking. I've skipped them the last couple days, right around the time this happened. Tonight I slapped a couple back on...and it was after using them that I immediately noticed a change in my taste. No idea if that would or should make any difference, but it's pretty weird that my taste improves immediately after I used them.

Y'all are lifesavers. I vaped a strong (30mg) spearmint all last night (which was about all I could stand), then this morning for good meausre took a huge whiff of coffee as I was making it.

So far :: crosses fingers :: so good!

It's so good to know that we may go through periods like this, but that our taste WILL come back and to hang in there during these times. :)

This is so weird i thought it was just me so im relieved to hear all your stories.
Yesterday i smoked my R4 and it tasted disgusting...almost fishy .
I changed to a coconut and cream that i like and even that tasted a bit strange.
All ok today but still scared to try the R4....
11 days no analogs though.......:toast:

I agree - can you imagine if we had no forum to learn from and were winging it?

Congrats on passing up those analogs, it's such an amazing feeling to be doing it so easily, isn't it? Heck, if a little fishy tasting juice is the worst of it, I guess we can deal. ;)

Here's something else that may help. Since your nose is an important part of tasting, I tried this the other night: Video: Nasal irrigation (nasal lavage) - MayoClinic.com

It works great! I've had stuffy sinuses for a long time now, and using this cleared them right out. Not only can I breath much better, but smell and taste has improved as well. I know this seems kinda gross, but trust me, it's not bad and it works.

I have been vaping for 1 month now total. I had no problem with flavor lose but for the first 3 weeks I was really not a heavy vaporer.

I analoged alot in between due to the blu's problems. 1 week ago I got my Ego from cignots. I dropped in my favorite flavor from Strictly and man I was in vapor heaven. I vaped my guts out literally for about a week now and haven't touched a analog. Now I'm starting to have some very frustrating problems.

My juice taste like complete garbage. Its actually unvapable. All of it its all garbage now. At first I thought it was the atty but im sure now its not. I smoked a analog and it tastes like garbage. I tried a vape off my blu with Chery Crush that was always an ok vape and it tastes like garbage.

I'm currently at a lose for flavor and I'm loosing it. All this money I have invested seems to be for nothing I hope that when I get my juice from backwoods and my new attys Monday that I will be back in business.

I just rinsed with listerine and inhaled coffee beans and then took a vape and the taste is back a little bit. I think some of the problem also is that my juice is a bit old and it has got runny.

It could be your juice, but it's suspect to me that it all went bad at once. Here's a post I made on another forum a coupe days ago:

I've been going thru this as well...vaping 3 weeks now. I've read a bunch of threads about this and other related stuff, so let me impart some knowledge I've learned from others.

Stronger flavors can work, as others have said. But a good thing to look at is your nose and sinuses actually. If your nose/sinus is clogged, this will effect your taste. Google "nasal irrigation" and try that.

Drink a lot of water. If your mouth is dry you won't taste things as well. You should be drinking a lot of water anyways if you are vaping.

Buy a tongue scraper. You can find them at any grocery/walmart/drug store. Brushing your tongue is not the same as scraping it.

If you are vaping a heavy PG juice, try one that's heavy in VG (or vice versa).

Drink a mouthful of fruit juice. I have a carton of fruit punch in the fridge and take a mouthful and swish it around. It cleanses your mouth, which is good for removing a strong flavor and might help as well.

Also, I just went thru 3 days or so of really BAD taste and then my tongue hurting. This stuff can apply as well, but I post this in case you experience this too.....

If your tongue is hurting, it's most likely nicotine level. Lower your level, maybe even down to 0. A day of vaping just some flavored VG helped take care of this for me.

Vary the placement of your PV in your mouth. When I started I had a tendency to vape just straight over the middle of my tongue.....move it to one side or the other and mix it up. Vaping right over the same area of your tongue can irritate it.

Mix 1 cup water with 1tablespoon baking soda. If your tongue is hurting, it's also caused by the acidity in your mouth. Use this mix like a mouthwash and it will help relieve the pain.
================================================== =============

Best of all: Know you are not alone and this happens to a lot of us. And it *will* pass. It definitely sucks big time when it does, but don't give up and try to get through it. If anything, when it does pass, you'll appreciate how well everything tastes even more.

liquids last anywhere from 3 months to 2 years...short of treating it like a batch of sun tea, the chances of it "turning" is slim. Mine gets to cruise around with me in the truck, usually 15 ml bottles for weeks. Outside is 95 degrees, inside truck, probably 100+...Still vaping.
So it boils down to taste buds as bahnzo just stated.

6 months in and my tastebuds are not nearly as good as they were when I was smoking. Whatever I seem to vape, seems to have a taste for a few days and then it's flavorless to me. This is really strange to me, because as a smoker, I had a phenomenal palate and could tell the difference between Madagascar and Indonesian vanilla. My chef used to try to stump me with new things and I could always figure out the new or missing ingredient. But now, I seem to have lost a lot of taste. I think it's because the ejuice flavors are really strong and the increased moisture inside my sinuses has caused my smell to dampen a little.

I never exhaled through my nose when I smoked, it burned like hell. But with vaping, when I exhale, it comes out my nose and mouth at the same time. The only way I can stop it is to consciously think about it. I guess when I smoked, it was an automatic reaction due to the heat and dryness?

Whatever it is I don't know for sure, but my sense of taste and smell have decreased since I stopped analogs and went to only vaping. I haven't smoked an analog in 6 months. Regardless, I am glad I was able to quit smoking and I would do it all over again if given the chance. Eventually, I will stop vaping and my smell and taste will probably recover at that time.

One thing I can smell very well is is people who smoke. As a smoker I couldn't smell cigarettes on most people, but now I can. While I don't want a cigarette, I don't mind the smell as much as my cold turkey friends and I can hang out with smokers all the time and I'm not even tempted.
