Shipments from China go through either NY or SF, would they still be permitted to got hrough NY customs, x-rays, etc? Is there a way for China to ship only through SF? It seems that there is no way China can control the path that USPS chooses, doesn't it?

that is something I hadn't even considered, ugh.

I am pretty sure this bill is for only vendors who sell in NY. They are subject to a $10k fine. So shipping here in discreet packaging would be considered safe. But any NY based vendor will have to close up shop.

Just what our economy needs - a bill that will force new businesses to close. What I don't get is if the whole ban thing is primarily an attempt for NYS to preserve cigarette-based tax revenue, why force NYS-based businesses, who are required to collect sales tax on any shipment within the state, to close? I know I'll never go back to smoking - that ship has sailed for me - but I do purchase much of my juice from Backwoods Brew, which is a NYS vendor. I pay sales tax on my orders. If Don at BWB goes out of business, and I successfully stay off the smokes, NYS will get zero tax money from me. Multiply that by however many vapers who also buy from BWB and any of the other NY vendors, and we're looking at a decent chunk of change that will vanish from the tax coffers.

I guess it's better for NY to sacrifice the relatively low tax revenue from e-cigs in favor of the huge pile of fat stacks they get from tobacco.
