I understand trying to help stop people from becoming life-long smokers, but this is ridiculous!
At 18, you can vote but are not old enough to make a decision about how you pollute your lungs? For one, I'm sure underage smoking will continue the same as it has always been. hope this doesn't become a trend...the rights that smokers lose will trickle down to vapers...as if we didn't have enough battles to fight.
What really bothers me about this, since I could care less if 18 year olds can buy cigs, this is a prime example of govt. on any level trying to control the decisions of adults...whether it violates your rights or not.

Well, it's one thing to prohibit and penalize buying and another to prohibit and penalize use.
Before I get flamed on this.. I STRONGLY advocate e-cig use by ANYONE who is already using tobacco.

But, there IS evidence that nicotine may inhibit full and proper development of receptors in the brain until the brain is fully developed, which unfortunately can be as old as mid 20's. Regardless if you believe that or not, it's a bit hard for any governing body to ignore that.

Having said all that, there needs to be provisions in any legislation to make the CLEARLY safer e-cig alternative easily available to ANYONE currently using tobacco, imo.

I am so sick of being told what I can and can't do and when I can do it. I'm sick of absurd taxes. I'm sick of the fact that I'll never own a house because of said taxes, obamacare, low wages (currently unemployed, laid off from a nice job over a month ago due to "economical reasons), rising gas prices, rising energy prices, rising grocery prices, rising everything . It's sickening really.

I lost my job. You see, people can't afford to spend money anymore. They have enough to pay rent/mortgage, gas up their car, and pay health insurance. After all of that, there isn't much left to spread around. I was an account manager for a software company. People have stopped buying stuff like that and are just sticking with old versions. I'm talking multi million dollar companies. Even they are feeling the crunch. So there went my job. And there's nothing out there. For every open job I'm sure there's a hundred resumes sent.

Instead of stopping a 19 year old from buying a pack of Marlboro's maybe, just maybe they can figure out how to not rape the middle class?

We're going to be in a world of hurt in 10 years.

Oh and a note to NY, people start smoking WELLLLLLL before the legal age. Not sure if they know that or not?

Wow, sorry for the rant, but I'm about fed up :)

I love all of you here though!
