"Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill Sunday that will raise the legal age for purchasing cigarettes, e-cigarettes and other tobacco products from 18 to 21 statewide.

'For Illinois, it will reduce costs for our state, it will make our schools and communities healthier places to learn and live, and — most importantly — it will save lives,' Pritzker said in a statement."

Save costs, based on pretending others paid costs paid by smokers, and that non-smokers' costs don't exist at all (e.g. SAMMEC). The bottom line is that it's the "healthy living" who are the financial burden.
Lifetime Medical Costs of Obesity: Prevention No Cure for Increasing Health Expenditure

And save lives, according to deliberately fraudulent studies that falsely blame smoking for diseases caused by infection. At least half of the fake smoking-related death toll is caused by cytomegalovirus alone. And vapers get sucked in just because it looks like smoking.

"OUR schools and communities," he simpers - that don't belong to us, the people, any more, they belong to "public health" charlatans who lie in our faces and trample on our liberties.

Government scientific fraud against us - smokers and vapers alike - is a human rights issue. It's like using faked evidence to put innocent people in prison. We're the ones suffering massive violations of our liberty and autonomy.

None of the places that pass these kinds of laws ever mention that they've just made criminals out of somewhere between 5% and 20% (depending on location) of the 18-21 year old population. If I were in that age group and was suddenly told it's illegal for me to purchase cigarettes or vape goods, I'd find a way to get my "tobacco products" whether they it was legal or not.

Also, Pritzker has promised to legalize that other stuff. What do you want to bet the purchase age will be 18?

It's about time we all realized that the overwhelming amount of citizen apathy in our society today and lack of watchfulness over government has degraded our liberties? Legislators seek the approval of other legislators, and only concern themselves with YOU when it is election time. Who do you have to blame?

I am not particularly opposed to 21 laws, as long as 21 also applies to my son entering the military and serving my country.

Of course Rossum! When I started to smoke cigarettes around age 13-14, it wasnt “legal” either, but it dodnt stop any of us! Just the wrong direction! When are these old men wroting and passing these laws going to learn to take a lesson from nations with successful treatments pf addictions? Potugal for one, only one. If teens choose to vape/smoke, all the lawmakers are helping is a robust black market.
