Well I've been analog free for a day,,,,, vaping my new Ego all day..... Going nuts!!!!

Got up this Morning(New Years Day) and put the last pack of $7.00 analogs in the freezer and went to pure vaping at that point!!! I've been off & on with vaping in between analogs, but never really committed to vaping until now... Started vaping at work during breaks this past week and thought I would be alright until today.... I have not given up,,,, Don't want to, but I feel I need a analog!!!!

I've gone all day,,, done really well(Ego's getting a real work out) But the analog sure would be nice!!!!

Does it get better???? Should I get a higher NIC level???? I REALLY NEED TO QUIT!!!!

Should I keep vaping as much as I can???

Thanks in advance for any advise:blush:

Congratulations on going all day! (and for investing in an eGo and for your health.) You didn't mention your nicotine level. It might be too low--if you're vaping all day and REALLY want an analog. Keep vaping. If you "fall off of the wagon" don't despair. Not everyone is able to quit on the first day. Just realize that you've made it ALL day without an analog. Keep vaping. If you feel that you need your analog, vape some more and tell yourself that you'll wait 15 minutes. If after 15 minutes, you really feel that you need to smoke, go get an analog out of the freezer. But don't beat yourself up over it. What nic level is your juice? How much did you smoke before and what brand?

When you have your cravings, you might want to try 24mg and then switch to a lower level when the urge passes. I haven't had many urges for an analog at all, amazingly, because I smoked about 25 cigs a day for 35 yrs (first Marlboro Light then switched to Capri about 18 yrs ago).

I puffed an analog two days and five days, respectively, after I switched to vaping ... got exactly two draws off of each cig and tossed them. They were super disgusting! UGH

Since then, I've had a couple of minor cravings, but when I get one, I grab the pv, drop in some 24mg juice and vape away. That strength definitely does it for me. I could never vape it all day. Makes my head spin. LOL

My trigger times are after I get up in the am, and after meals. The rest of the time, I'm fine.

Good luck and keep at it!

YES! It gets better . . . (hope that helps.) Congratulations on making it this far.

Temporarily uppping the nic level might help you - it did me. Changing your routine will help more. Get away from the standard actions that cause burn-a-cigarette response. The longer you delay lighting a cigarette, the worse it will taste. Eventually, you'll wonder why you ever subjected your taste buds and lungs to that torture!

Sounds like you are withdrawing from the other addictive chemicals in cigarettes. Don't let them win. Day five I felt like I was going to crawl out of my skin. Cinnamon red hots, lemonheads, starlight mints and butterscotch drops can be your friends and help with the cravings the first couple of weeks.

Maybe try limiting yourself to a single cig in the morning and a single cig at night. Doesn't make you a non-quitter forever, just means it will take a little longer to fully switch. I never expected to quit, but I knew when I was done. Almost heard the switch click internally . . .

You are not alone. The forums are full of advice, support and coping techniques to help you through. Good luck and keep coming back.

Congrats on the whole day!
I like the idea of having some strong juice on standby for when the big urge hits but I also like using distractions for when a craving hits, such as...
Slam a full glass of water when you get a craving, it's good for you and you'll need it with vaping anyway.
Brush your teeth when you get a craving, I know I didn't care as much for a cig right after brushing my teeth, and it's good for you as well.

Before you know it, you won't have these cravings anymore, it does get a lot easier. I think at the 1 month mark, I stopped getting any cravings for analogs. But up until that 1 month mark I definitely chain vaped, non stop, all the time, continuously, haha. (more like 2 months for me and the literal chain vaping, I've slowed down a bit now but my pv is always with me, usually in my hand).

I've discovered that "light' and "ultra light" cigarettes don't necessarily mean low nicotine. But they filter a lot of chemicals out while adding extra carbon monoxide. I also suggest a 24mg juice for those times when the cravings hit (and they will hit for a time). I also find that chewing cinnamon gum will help with urges (like Big Red). That was a life saver when I would be on a long road trip with someone who didn't smoke. And you can supplement it with the PV which wasn't possible for me at the time. Again, tell yourself 15 min. and find something to do other than watch the clock.

You might want to make sure you are not caught in a mental pass/fail mode. You smoke a cigarette you failed, may as well keep smoking kind of thing.

Maybe commit to a lot less smoking at first and stop beating yourself up. I was 2-2 1/2 pack a day smoker for over 20 years, got the vape thing on a lark with no huge expectations and quickly realized I could vape instead of smoke BUT I still had the cravings for analogs occasionally during the day, so I smoke a few, no big deal (to me). It's been 3 months and I do 3-5 analogs a day, I enjoy them now, I didn't before. I don't beat myself up over it, 3-5 cigs vs. 40-50 is a huge impact on my health. Conventional quitting propaganda always dictates "all or none"...blah blah blah...I think this is why many fail, it's a very difficult almost unrealistic goal.

If I had approached this from a strict "never smoke another cigarette as long as I live", a rigid pass/fail thing, I would have failed and threw the vapes away. As it is, I'm happy with the result.

Nobody smokes, vapes or does anything exactly the same way as others, why is there only one way to quit cigarettes? If it takes another five years to junk the few dailies I smoke, so be it, I'm on a much better road now.

Hang in there!! The first three days for me was really, really hard. I went from 20 years pack o' day to straight vaping . I have zero will power and was like how am I going to do this. :?: I kept reading the "quitting smoking" timelines on the internet that said all the great things that happen to your body the moment you stop. It motivated me, kept me in the fight.

Please keep going, I am 34 days in can't believe I made it past 3 hours! This forum is a wealth of knowledge with people who are pro's and can help you with any vaping questions! It will get better I promise, you can do it!!

You're doing great. Hang in there. Get a bottle of 24mg. When you really need to puff, use it. When the OMG is over, go back to the lower nic. Also remember that your body is still adicted to all the other gunk that you've been ingesting. It is very quick to get past the anxiety of that so try the higher nic first. Don't touch the stinkies. Trust us, you will overcome it.

It gets better. Just stick with it, use flavors you really like, and make sure all your equipment works and that you have back up with you at all times. I personally had to jump to 24mg...but just stay with it and think of as if you just switched analog brands instead of thinking so much about how your not smoking. Psych your own brain out a bit...you just switched brands, thats all.

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
once you find the "flavor" that you cant live without, trust me, analogs will be HISTORY. i would like to suggest FIRE & ICE by VaporBomb if you like cinnamon flavor............i have gotten a few people vaping, and definitely off ciggies just based on that flavor alone!
(sure there are tons of other flavors out there, but maybe in the beginning, if you try something very STRONG, a flavor that really packs a punch, at 24mg nic strength, it may get you over the hump)

Keep it up Steef! It does get easier as you start to feel the positive effects form vaping. Folks have given you a lot of great advice so far and bumping the nic level when you need that extra bit will definitely help. With any luck you'll find a flavor you really really like. Once you have that you will probably find that smoking an analog is way less likely to happen.

If your resolve should slip don't sweat it. It isn't about the analogs you smoke, it is more about the analogs you DON'T smoke.

I'm not going to BS you or sugar coat it. Quitting cigarettes is Tough.

You have to Man-up, draw a line and just say that you are not going to smoke a cigarette today. Don't worry about tomorrow or next week. Just don't smoke today.

Drink a ton of water. Eat constantly. Chain vape. Whatever it takes. But DON'T smoke Today. After 7 or 10 days it does get better. Get rid of that pack you have stashed in the frig. It is only going to tempt you.

You can do it if you Really want to. But the first 7 days are going to be rough.

Day 2 wasn't 2 bad!!!

Made it through the morning with projects. Got a little edgy when football started.... Just kept vaping away... Drinking lots of water, Vaping lots of juice.... Staying busy and of course, picking up on the bits of great advise given to help make it through. :)

:blush:Day 3-
Today(Tonight) is a work day.... Which in my mind, is a victory of sorts!!! I only smoked 5 analogs during work hours. Was vaping on the way to work and before I started my shift... Was not confident enough with the 510 I had to get me though the break times and lunch... I believe I can do this with my new Ego(IMO)...

I'm doing well(for me) As I stated, This is a victory for me.... My only concern is my battery does not crap out at a most critical moment tonight:facepalm:

Stay Tuned

Well, you've got a ton of good answers already, but I'll add my $0.02.

I'd get higher nic level juice. There's a lot of other adictive substances in a cigarette besides just nicotine. Upping the nic level will probably help ease the cravings for those other things. I'd go with at least 24mg, and you'll probably feel a world of difference. I felt just like you when I first started with 18mg juice, and the first day I vaped 24mg was the last day I wanted an analog, except the week I was without an e-cig because my Vgo and my backup died the same day.
