hello everyone.
well one year ago today i received my very first vape mail. i was a competitive gymnast for years, and quickly learned the detriment of smoking to my health. as soon as I started regularly smoking i could no longer accomplished skills i had mastered long ago. my inability to stay physically active resulted in a great deal of muscle mass loss. as my smoking career progressed, i was able to consume 10g of tobacco, hand rolled without filter, per day. so i felt the need to quit urgently, after only 5 years of smoking. the damage the habit was able to accomplish in only half a decade was frightening.
i started lurking this site in june. in august my mother oh-so kindly offered an ego-t starter kit and 5x30ml cheap as an early christmas present, rather than just loaning me money as i originally requested. long story short, i had a rather negative experience with the ego-t. i watched many youtube videos perplexed as to why their ego-t performed so much better than mine. i was kind of a nervous smoker. if i rolled a cigarette that wouldn't perform to my expectations, it would stress me out. the ego-t was a source of stress about just as often. i had to talk to myself a lot to stick with it. luckily, i was starting to work in a supportive environment so i could deal with the withdrawals from all the other godforsaken things in drum tobacco. to the credit of vaping, when i received my kit i had about 10g of tobacco left. i would have 2 smokes a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. the idea of cold turkey seemed too strict, so i figured two smokes a day (same way i started) would be a very admirable way out. while "enjoying" my morning balcony coffee smoke outing, i was longing for my ego-t. despite feeling kind of "duh" from the other chemicals leaving my body, i felt really liberated. however, 21 days after vaping, my atomizers died. ok. so this isn't surprising to anyone. i was under the impression at the time that a pair of atomizers would last the user 3 months, easy. it was 10 days until i could order a 5 pack of vision clearomizers. in that time i consumed 100g of tobacco. by the time i had starting rolling my own smokes again i no longer craved for tobacco and completed all my mental detoxes. i had to reacquaint myself with all the chemicals in tobacco, while losing the freedom of reaching a good nicotine homeostasis. maddening! as soon as those clearomizers came in, i did not bother to wean myself of tobacco. i let about 5g in my pouch dry, then tossed it in dec.
i was pretty dedicated to clearomizers until i received my second pack of 5 vision clearomizers and an order of ce3s. cartomizers in comparison were way more enjoyable. a few months later, tanks. having to continually renew disposables was never an attractive component of vaping for me. i started researching mechanical mods. after a lot of soul searching, i now vape with a vmod and a precise + 18500.
health wise i feel as if my body is starting to finally heal itself more thoroughly. i am able to run, and i have started yoga. yoga is a lot more forgiving on one's body when compared to gymnastics. however, i am starting the conditioning regime i used when i was a competitive gymnast very casually and am starting to regain some muscle mass. this improvement is especially important to me. i dropped from 115lbs to 100 lbs, so maintaining a healthy body weight is imperative. when i was a smoker, i used to also drink 3 pots of coffee a day. i'm not even joking. as a student i was working more than full time for a few years, and was working in cafes for 4/5 years of my degree. when i qualified for student loans often enough you could replace 1 pot of coffee with 1 bottle of wine. in sharing all of this quantification of substance enjoyment, it is clear it is not the smoking exclusively which was depleting my health and energy levels. i do associate picking up vaping as my real initiation in preparing my body for its future. sure, i was experiment with different diets ranging from any combination of vegan, vegetarian, raw, gluten-free, etc. i was still not largely making wise choices, and relied heavily on "alternate fuels". since i have started vaping i am more motivated to improve my physical condition, i do not drink as much coffee or alcohol, and my diet is way more balanced. picking up vaping marks a lot of changes in my life, and all of them have pointed towards a brighter future.
i'm sure many of you feel this way. thank you all for being a part of the vaping community. we are all members of a very supportive movement, and i look forward to growing alongside each other. <3
