Obsessive?

I have a question for everyone. Are you becoming obsessed with vaping and all the rituals that go with it?

I read an article years ago about how nicotine works. It makes memories of what you did right before you ingest memories that are happy ones and desirable ones. That's why everyone always wants to "smoke" after certain activities: meals, movies, sex.

I wonder if all the tinkering and ritual before vaping becomes obsessive because of this.

Hi ya Harry, It did for me but only at the beginning, maybe the first couple of weeks. I wouldn't say obsessive, though I am sure it might happen to some, more like a hobby and tinkering cause I like to tinker with new stuff. Anyway after finding my sweet spot all is well and I am content with what works for me. Now it is just maintaining my juice supplies and trying a new juice every now and again.

Welcome to ECF.

The much more likely explanation to the "so-called obsessive" activity around vaping is that people are "obsessed" about saving their life. If we can find the best vaping experience for us, in order to stay off analogs, then being somewhat obsessive about it is a good thing. Helping others do the same thing is also a good thing. So if that is obsessive, it doesn't make it a bad thing.

Yeah I am obsessed. But it slowed down after a few months once I had upgraded to decent equipment and found 2 everyday juices and some extras I like. Now I am mostly just buying replacements and expendables (cartos/juice with an occasional new one) and I snap once in a while and buy yet another 3.7v mod haha. I just have to stay away from the Buying & Selling section and the Juice Reviews section.

Hello Harry,

My answer for you is Yes! I am obsessed as a beginner, but as other mentioned before, maybe that happens until you get your first 2 flavors that you like to vape everyday.

I bet that everyone (or almost everyone here) went through the overwhelming process of choosing his 1st and 2nd flavor as well as to get the perfect device that fits perfectly for the habit that you personally had.

The good thing is that you're doing something that you just figured out that you like and having fun with it.
The bad thing is that you will spend some money

I am looking for flavors and most recently for DIY to mix my own juices. The reason for me is that most of the people will feel and taste the same juice differently and then I though that the best way for me would be to mix my own, so now I am looking for tabacco flavors and orders juices from 2 different vendors.

No worry you're going through the steps that seems that everyone had once started on vaping :D

Been vaping over a year, and all I can say is yes I'm obsessed. I've bought and sold tons of mods. My signature is what is currently in my arsenal and my favorites to date. All I've been buying lately has been bunches of carto's and juices. I don't need anything else. I've finally found my vaping nirvana.

took a 6 month self inposed"stop the obsession" period and all it did for me was make me vape old juice.Kidding really , the juice was still good and would not recommend that idea till at least 6 months and a small cooler filled with juice that won't close Bought so much stuff and there was no way to use 10% of it, it was still worth the experience. When the time is right to hone in your wants, needs and desires , you will know. congrats and good luck.

My obsession is saving my life - that is the most important thing to me. I also has allowed me to help several other people quit smoking, which is very gratifying. And - it brought me to ECF where there are so many wonderful people. Obsessed? Definitely! Worried about it? NO WAY! Vape on! :vapor:

Somewhere out there
I am not sure if it obsession, but I sure like it. I am surprised that I don't mind all the fiddling around I do for vaping. I have a bunch of DIY I need to do tho and have not quite got that done yet! LOL So I do put some of it off until I really get craving a flavor I have run out of. Then I pull out all the DIY and get it done. Maybe that will be tomorrow :) bnrk

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but the activities you mentioned - meals, movies, sex, all deplete the body of nicotine, so that is why you have such a strong craving after them. I wouldn't say obsesson, i would say addiction. And the tinkering ritual lets your brain know that it's favorite drug is just moments away so there is a release of serotonin and serotonin = happy.

Absolutely. I am completely obsessed with vaping. I do find the ritual of actual "vaping" enjoyable (meaning just pressing a button, inhalation & exhalation), but the ritual of mixing e-liquid, filling tanks up at home, shopping online for the best and newest technology or merchandise are additional areas where I find it to be equally as enjoyable. Vaping has become a form of a hobby (for me) with how many things are involved with it.
