Odd nova problem

One of my vivi novas developed an issue. It wasn't firing, so...full of juice and at work I took the top off, and pressed the button...it fired. Seems to be the top needs to be loosened 1/4 turn to fire. I pulled off and reseated the silicone cap and little metal piece.

Suggestions? I will just take it all the way apart and clean it if no one has anything...just curious.

Maybe a coil was touching the side of the cup shorting it out, taking the cap off moved the wick and coil eliminating the short?
