Sitting at home the other day and my atty died, so I think nothing of it(it was a few weeks old). Tested it with my meter and it is dead. So, I throw it in the pocket of my bag for all of my dead parts and forget about it. Until today when i was interviewing an applicant at work and he asks me about the pen i have been chewing on the whole time. So I tell him the whole story and he wanted to try it, so i go to my kit and realize the only atty i have is the one i am using. Except for the dead one. (i know i could have let him use mine but i'm funny about that). So i figure i'll try this dead one and see if by some miracle it will work. so i set him up with a battery and a new cart. It works and he loves it.

But, my question is has anyone else ever had an atty magically come back from the dead?

the most common reason for this is the center positive contacts between battery and atomizer.. they can squash up and work with one battery or some batteries and not others.. they can also get greasy and make poor electrical contact..

basically they are not dead just failing to make good electrical contact with whatever battery they happen to get screwed into.. screwing them in super tight makes this situation worse.. so dos regular swappiing about between several different batteries..

You didn't define dead, was it an open or high resistance? A bad reading could always be the result of bad test leads or a bad meter but chances are you didn't make good contact with the leads.

Open- no continuity but like they said probably a broken wire, that is for now making contact.
