Ody drip mode question

Just got my first Ody - it's the drip mode only. Here's my first problem.. I can't get it apart. The base and threaded rebuildable atomizer are either fused together and not reflective of the diagram on GG Wiki or are stuck together (hopefully not cross threaded). Before I try to muscle and wd-40 my way into opening this, can anyone tell me if they had this problem?

I have a strap wrench. It is so handy to take things apart without scratching them. I mostly just use the tail part for a tight grip.

Yes its typical at least for me... its tight because the o-ring seats itself in the base and holds on tight... once you do manage to get it all apart from the base give it a good bath and scrub the threads with an old toothbrush if possible... wash, rinse, repeat a couple times.... then before putting it back together lather up the inside base threads and the bottom half of the ody threads and the little o-ring at the bottom of your center post with vasoline... a little gunky is ok... I use a Q-Tip to get the vasoline inside the base...and if you do this after every rebuild it will make it much easier to take apart the next time.... is also the best way to prevent leaks....

Thanks! I guess I just needed some reassurance that I was headed down the right path in trying to remove the base and the rebuildable portion before putting time into it. I appreciate the help.

what's the easiest way tto get this thing apart? i don't have a strap wrench, so should i just try to muscle it apart, im a pretty big fella

I heard that they make 'em big in Texas the Wd-40 is doing it just fine.. just wasn't comfortable putting that much tork on taking it off w/o asking. Thought that maybe the drip mode was built differently and didn't wanna mess it up.

Don't know why they come assembled? They did not in the upgrade package.

Try the rubber pad jar lid removers found your kitchen. That or anything that affords a grip like them.

Almost thought it was going to cross thread it if i took it off. Used a big spray of WD 40 and some soapy water and just gently worked it off. It seems fine. Now I'm gonna try to build my first wick w/ mesh. Is it terrible to use 400 mesh with all VG juice? I know that the 325 is supposed to be better for thicker juices but wanted to ask to see how much that really matters.

Yeah I don't even like my GGTS's to come assembled when shipping. I had a telescope get jammed in one of my older aluminum GGTS's and it took forever to get it apart without damage.

Give it a good clean and lube the threads with vas.

Couldn't tell ya on the mesh as I don't use it. Sounds like a short waiting to happen to me.

Quick tip for taking apart parts in a pinch. Use the tape on a lint roller...hey I was in major need

I'm kinda obsessive with threading too. 2nd biggest fear.. after scratches. I think that people w/ a slight case of OCD are attracted to the GGs. They sort of compliment my fidgety need for perfection in things. It's funny that other GG owners seem to have the same tendencies.

I forgot where I read this but you can put carto condoms over the tips of pliers to help get things apart with less damage.

lol "less" damage, i would rather no damage for the price tag.

It came apart nicely but that is a good idea. Everybodys got carto condoms in their vape station and seems like it would be a perfect fit.

Just wanted to report back. Didn't use the mesh roll just stuck w/ the res and no res wire w/ wick. As always, GG products rock. Vapes great.

A good way to unscrew the rebuildable part from the base is to push and unscrew at the same time.
