Hello All,
Analog free one month today, (Pack a day/30 years).
Tried e-cigarettes a few years ago, not the best experience. Tried gum, the patch, cold turkey.
About five weeks ago, someone sent me a few links about vaping. Decided to do a little reseach and found this forum.
Being an adult with a credit card and am internet connection decided to try again
and ordered a Halo G6 kit, some spinner batteries, a selection of clearos and cartos
and some e-liquid....(then some more clearos, more e-liquid, other gizmos....)

Of course couldn't wait for my orininal order and on the way home from work stopped and picked up a Blu disposable.
Loved the Nic rush of the Blu, not bad. Over the course of the weekend picked up two more. Was hooked.
Took me three days to drop analogs. week later lit up a American Spirit from a just-in-case pack I had tucked away, and couldn't stand it. Put it out after a couple of puffs. Couple days later tossed out the pack.
Mind you in the past I would get antsy if the pack was low, didn't matter if I was smoking or not, just had to have a full pack on hand.

All is ok, but am getting discouraged a bit; have an issue.
Just about everything attached to Spinners tastes burnt, or has some other issue, but mostly burnt taste.
Constantly getting a sore throat after using Spinner batteries with anything.
No such issues with my Halo G6 setup.
With the G6 have been using their mini tanks and Kanger E-smart clearos.

Liquid has been 100VG, 50/50VG, and whatever blend Halo uses. 18 and 12 little bit of 6mg.
Have been setting the Spinners mostly toward 3.3 lately, 3.7/3.8 tops, depending on resistance.
Have washed out clearos, changed heads, removed wicks. changed to different ohm heads, looked at charts, read reviews,
Just started messing about with a carto tank, don't think I have things down with that yet.

Mini Vivi Nova, (yes I swished); vision nanos 1.8, (still new); Vapeonly BCC, little guys and a big one; iclear 16; Mini T3
Protank, and Evod, (no taste, too airy even with 'fixes', just don't like 'em), CE2 worked OK, but PIA to fill/clean.

Right now feel like I am stuck in the shallow end. The little Halo setup is ok, but can't figure out the Spinner issue.

brunneu33,

First, you need to read the sections on the effects of beginning to vape. Go to the top of the ECF Forum and click on the Info Section. You will find that a sore throat, mouth ulcers, and dry mouth are all effects that many of us have had when first quitting regular cigarettes and turning to vaping. Drink a LOT of liquids when vaping, it drys your mouth. For most of us the effects have all but disappeared after a few weeks.

Second, burnt taste is from the coils being burned. It appears you have tried numerous delivery devices. May I suggest buying some fresh cartomizers. Fill them by dripping your favorite juice a drop at a time into the carto until the wick section remains slushy, and avoid getting juice down the center hole. Attach the carto to the battery of your choice and if variable voltage, start at 3.0 to 3.2 volts. If it vapes fine, you can up the volts. Keep the carto refreshed every 10 to 20 puffs. This should give you a clean fresh vape. Clean the carto by flushing out with hot water every couple of days, blow out the water, let it dry and reuse over and over. Move from this setup to a carto tank like the Artemas Tank from Mad Vapes and you can vape all day long for about a week on one carto. I clean mine once a week.

Avoid letting your device dry out at all costs. This is what burns the coil and causes the burned taste. Once the coil is burned it is toast.

Best Wishes
Wabbit

Wabbit, sounds like a good idea going to cartos; only used the ones that came with the Halo kit.
Read up on the Health effects page before posting, odd thing, don't get the same effect from the halo hardware.

Caridwen, been running the spinner at 3.3 most of the time trying to get through this issue, 1.8, 2.0, 2.4 doesn't seem to make a difference, different spinners same result. Don't think I have even tried vaping much above 4v, definitely never cranked it up.
White Rabbit may have hit on me burning the coils, not sure why, chain vaping? Use the Halo kit the same way, same juice.

That's an odd one, I was thinking one spinner was defective but 2 not likely but possible. I keep my twists at 4.4v all the time with 2.4ohm vivi novas and all is good. Haven't heard of a bad batch of spinners on the market but could be a recent issue. I guess you should contact the vendor and see if its the batch of spinners they have that is the issue.

Has anyone congratulated you yet on being analog free for a month? Well, in my book, that is quite an accomplishment especially after smoking the stinkies for as long as you did. I felt just like you, always worried about running out of the analogs, I smoked just as long as you and far more per day. I am going on 3 yrs of ecigs. Starting in Aug and then found this forum.

The burnt taste means the juice is not reaching the coils for some reason. And once it is burnt, throw it away. Depending on how burnt it is, you may try to save it, but in the long run it usually isn't worth it.
We all chain vape in the beginning. Are you sure that the devices you are using are delivering what you need as an ex-smoker? I have been thru too many devices to count, and having been such a heavy smoker, I need something else that would deliver a huge punch.

Let us know how you are doing and congrats again......

:)

Sadly I might not be able to help. BUT - It won't be your Spinner battery. It will be the voltage you are using it at for the atomizer/clearo OR issues with filling or maintaining your juice delivery system. ALSO, a pure 100% VG juice is not entirely well suited to clearos of any type, it takes ages for the juice to soak in on the initial fill and you have to be very patient and not vape too fast. :)
Maybe start at the beginning. Find a new carto or clearo, fill it up and vape it at the lowest setting. Make sure you have soaked the wick or wadding properly, all the general stuff.

Don't give up yet. You'll get there.

Everyone,
Thank you much for the support and suggestions. Watched the video White Rabbit linked and after reading your responses; I think... maybe... that it's me. No no, don't fight me on this, I admit, I may not have been as patient as I should have been, and have been vaping like a horse on a water hose, burning coils, chain vaping.....

Sugar and Spice, thanks much, the reason I gave another try was because of the success stories here, like you, 3 years, good deal.
What did you find that worked for you that delivered that big punch?

Sorry for the late reply. My home Internet is still out because of last nights storms. I now use provari's and a Darwin. And it is also the combo of cartos and tanks. I currently use mostly glass tubes from bedazzle and jonboy tops and bottoms. Both vendors are here on ecf. Good luck and Keep us informed .:)

A month solid after 30 years of smoking? Impressive :) When I first switched my throat hurt quite a bit. I think a lot of it has to do with tissue healing after years of smoking. The advice on using cartomizers is good. Mostly I use carto tanks, but still keep cartos and mega cartos around. They're simple and my compulsive filling keeps me from burning lol. You'll get used to your equipment. Takes time advice and videos are great. Nothing beats hands on experience though ;-) Keep it up you're doing great!

Hi brunneu33! Don't feel alone, I was fighting the exact same problem for several days myself. My last cig was 5+ weeks ago and I had been rocking along nicely with my little ego batts and my evods. Then I started messing about with a new battery (which is my own fault - some stupid knock-off vv watt thing) and next thing I knew everything tasted burnt and horrrid. Blech! After much messing about and trying to clean coils (I didn't and won't even think about rebuilding stuff at this point - I have trouble finding the right end of a hammer) and such, I just said - fuggetaboutit! I tossed my coils, cleaned my evods throughly, put in some new coils/fresh juice and put my faithful little batts back to work. Taaadaaaa! Happy mom once again.

Now, my troubles were due to silliness on my part and I'm sure that yours do not have the same root cause. But tossing out the messed up stuff and starting fresh fixed my problem so thought I'd throw it out there. Bottom line, too much power spoils the coils! (in Cat's world anyway.)

Later I may try again with a better variable battery thing-y, but for now I'm still off the cigs and vaping happy.

Good luck - it will all work out I know! :)

Congrats on quiting! I also quit with G6's. Have you tried the Halo's Triton batts and the clearo Triton? I like Halo products and is use ego types daily for out and about and I like the Triton batts. They are 808 threaded like the cartos for G6. I still have a bunch of 808 cartos so use them on the Triton batts. They are fast charging, they are smaller in size than ego Twists, even the 1300 mah is small compared ego Twist (similar to spinner). Mine are not VV because they give a good warm vape anyway. Just something to try perhaps. Good luck! bnrk

Hey Cat, congrats on being smokeless, seems like we both went awry while tinkering. The best thing for me to do, i think, is to slooowww down a bit.
bnrk
Kept looking at the Triton, there is something to be said for not having to monkey with stuff so much, tanks are matched to the batteries Use the G6s and mini tanks every day, decent taste, good vapor, and get a full workday out of the two batteries. Thing is had already purchased the variable ego spinners, in hind site, for me anyway, should have stayed with kit setups a while longer.
Of course I am saying this with a mod and bunch of other stuff already on order...should have read my book last night instead of surfing the web.
