Could have posted this in the Campaigning form, however,
the subject also applies to News and Media because we are
constantly discussing articles focused on those opposed to harm reduction.

I really wonder why we seem to always assume the only thing
we have to fight with is the Truth.

It's really interesting we haven't effectively used one of the
most effective weapons to fight back.

Want to get some serious attention ???
Just inform "them" you are "Offended" to the point
of "considering" filing a lawsuit !!

I remember recently seeing in the news someone was "Offended'
by the term "Freshman" ... The University immediately caved in
and changed the term to "First Year Students"

We see in the news almost every day ...
Someone - Somewhere ... is "Offended" by something
and schools and companies changing their policies.
These are Not class-action lawsuits ... Just cases of
someone was "Offended".

We live in a Political Correct world that is freighted by
the possibility of "Offending" anyone ... For fear of
negative PR and Lawsuits.

Being "Offended" is NOT the same thing as sending E-mails,
petitions, posting in comments sections, and trying to educate
those who are lying about harm reduction.

Being "Offended" is SAYING We are "Offended" by the
Lies, Bans, and Policies which "implies" Anger to the point of
"doing something about it" which could draw media attention
and "possibilities" of lawsuits. All companies and organizations
are sensitive to negative PR and wish to avoid even the possibilities
of legal action.

ALL OF US can list example after example where companies,
Schools & Universities, Boards of Health, local Governments,
ETC ETC have caved in just because some one was "Offended".

I wouldn’t underestimate the power associated
with the word “Offended”

PS:
Those opposed to harm reduction understands very well
the power associated with the word "Offended"

Well, personally I am offended by all those employers who refuse to hire anyone who has nicotine in their system. There is plenty of research on users of snus showing no increased incidence of heart attacks and strokes (there goes their argument about increased health costs).

But in contrast, what are the health risks of being unemployed (and unemployable eventually)?

It is funny that you mention this, Petrodus. I really AM offended by all of the bans. I am a vegetarian and think meat is icky. I'd love to ban it, but that wouldn't be fashionable so it wouldn't work. When Rachel Ray wrinkled her nose at an ecig on tv, I immediately lost what little respect I had for her and was completely offended by her behavior. I find it offensive that we need to talk about this at all. I heard on the news recently that ice cream releases chemicals in the brain similar to those that ....... and ...... release and that scientists have found it to be addictive. Obesity is a big health problem. Yet no one is scrambling to ban ice cream, are they? It all boils down to whether something is fashionable. Maybe we need some celebrity endorsements.

Give it time--soon you will only be able to buy fat-free,sugar-free ice cream--if it is not banned altogether.

If I wasn't so busy fighting bans and trying to get truthful information out about smoke-free alternatives, I'd write a science fiction story. It would depict a super-nanny state, the logical destination of more and more and more laws passed to protect the consumer from himself.

Choices will have pretty much disappeared. Some folks are allergic to scents, so only fragrance-free soaps and household products are permitted to be sold. Perfume and cologne are black market items.

On the food front, there is too much danger in allowing people to determine their own diet, so everyone must go pick up a week's supply of NewrichmentTM, the one and only source of nutrition. It looks like a rice cake and provides you with the optimum dose of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates for your age and physical condition. Natural foods such as fruits, nuts, and vegetables are not permitted to be eaten by consumers. They can only be grown to supply the raw goods to produce NewrichmentTM.

Each supply of NewrichmentTM is formulated for a particular individual to avoid any weight loss or weight gain of fully grown adults at their idea weight. NewrichmentTM requires no refrigeration, which is a good thing, because of the continuous rolling brownouts due to all the closings of electric power plants

PETA managed to get a Constitutional Amendment passed protecting the rights of all animals. Killing an animal for food is now a capital offense.

Individual ownership of a vehicle is also prohibited. Citizens are urged to walk or ride a bicycle for any trips of less than 32 KM. (Oh did I forget to mention that the UN required all countries to adopt the metric system)? Vehicles are owned by cooperatives that must contain at least 10 adult members.

I am offended by people who's lives are so devoid of meaning and joy that they seem to think that acting like they are offended by things and using their feigned righteous indignation to control my life will somehow bring meaning and purpose to their lives.

I am offended by clinical sociopaths who want to turn our once-free nation into a nanny-state of tyrannical, micro-managed control to serve their own twisted, control-freak agendas.

I am offended by activists for Freedom and Liberty who think that being politically correct, polite and "playing fair" is somehow going to be victorious against these insane, sociopathic nut-cases who want to control our lives.

I am offended by vapers who cry about the ANTZ, but aren't members of CASAA, won't take a few minutes each month to email, fax, or call their representatives, or can't be bothered to show up for smoke-in's, vape meets, or talk to strangers in public who ask them about e-cigs.

And I am offended by vapers who think that "stealth vaping" is somehow benefiting our cause, and who criticize people who proudly engage in polite, lawful "Open Vaping" anywhere it is not explicitly prohibited.

And the state religion will be the New Puritanism. Zero tolerance for meat-eating, tobacco use, hunting, contact sports and many, many other icky behaviors disapproved of by the enlightened. Bad Behavior, Bad Thoughts and Talking Back strictly forbidden and severely punished.
