OK, it's rant time again.
So...we just had day 13 of sub-freezing temps and extreme winds. Was it bad? Yes. I've been so worried for a week and a half of one of our basement pipes freezing and bursting. Luckily they didn't. Was it the worst weather we've ever seen in New England? Hardly. (but BTW, I DID split my shovel in half tonight chopping snow/ice). Point being, I've had it up the wazoo with the hype. Every mainstream nightly news begins with "monster storm bearing down on (fill in your state here)". It's surely Armageddon and only the Gov't can keep us safe from it. Gimme a break. Please.
I don't necessarily blame the meteorologists, but I surely blame the networks they work for. As long as they (the networks) keep fostering the idea that all is gloom and doom they reason that we HAVE to believe and depend on them, because they will keep us all safe. Yeah. I'm not buying it. News reporting, both local and national, has sunk to an all time low. I'm REALLY tired of it, but I don't see it changing anytime soon.
And DON'T get me started on "wind chill factor"![]()
