I lost my sound on the computer last night out of the blue. Sooooo, I turned the computer off and then on without success, then I went into the control panel and pulled all the wires and switches (no go). I read that the latest update to windows cause some files for some people to be deleted and a few cases like mine for the sound to be lost. I will investigate this further after I change out the OS on my phone and add some more apps on my TV.:D

Microsoft released the Oct 2018 update ( v1809 ) on Oct. 2nd and then pulled it by Oct. 6th due to the errors being reported. So unless you got the update in early Oct, it's likely something else causing your problems.

To see which version of Windows 10 that you have installed... open the run dialog ( WinKey + R ) and type "winver" ( don't use the quotes ) and hit enter .... Currently v1803 is what most users will see but if you did get the update it will show v1809.

To address your sound issue... visit the support pages for your motherboard/system and download new drivers from there and install them. Check that the mute didn't get clicked on by accident. Also check your sound settings to make certain that your default device is the one that your speakers are hooked up to. To check that, right click on the speaker icon in the tray on the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings".

All tasks completed and now I am back up and running. While rooting and changing out the OS on the phone, somehow the phone driver replaced my sound default driver.

Ah... Didn't realise you were talking about a phone and not a desktop computer... I suppose the info I gave would have been general enough to cover it but I'd be uncertain about it since it's a phone and I expect several things work differently than a standard PC.

At least you got it working.

(I apologize, I seem to be in an AG frame of mind...)
