Usually on evenings that I may be interested in taking a sunset shot... I'll go out much earlier just to get a lay of the skies and see what may be in store later. Sometimes it bites me and when I see some good possible candidates for later, they all disappear as the time for things to happen really gets there...
Anyway, today was no different only this time what I saw was a sort of rare instance of lenticular clouds forming over the blossoming cumulus clouds... If you'll pardon me stating the obvious part of that... cumulus clouds are those puffy white ones that can grown into huge tall towering storms .... the lesser known lenticular clouds are lens shaped and usually only seen hanging over mountains or hills but not on them looking like a cap sort of... So I quickly went back inside to grab my camera and get the right lens on it... But by the time I got back out ( only minutes later at most ), they were gone... I'm guessing they got absorbed by the rising cumulus clouds. So instead of just going back inside... I decided to watch them for a while. I'm glad I did... one came back and while it wasn't as cool as having the several ones I saw earlier... I'll take it...
