Norman, Ok
After the day started out looking like a good chance of storms, then clearing out to just partly cloudy and then just before sunset almost clear skys.... It ended up being electric... :)

Just a bit after 8pm, I got a tweet that there were tornado sirens going off in a town about 15 miles to the west of me. Looking at the radar, I saw there was a chance of it going over my folks house but would be well to the north of me... so I grabbed the phone to call and make sure they were paying attention as I went outside to check things out. The cloud to cloud lightning was going nuts...

In all, I took 99 shots ( 3 were to set my exposure and didn't have much in them )... almost all of the rest ( If not all, I haven't previewed them all yet ) had at least a little lightning somewhere in them. Here are a couple from the shoot...

Here is another that I thought was cool but had a dust spot on it and in my excitement, I'd forgotten the filter to get rid of the street light pollution...

What I like about it is the almost aurora like look of the lightning that is hidden behind the cloud and has the light streaming out from it...

Wow! Great pictures Redsok!

Thanks Maxie...

This was an unbelievable night and the best I've ever had for the amount of lightning since I've been taking pics of it. I've seen better, but never had a camera handy on those occasions.

I've seen allot of that out here, we call it heat lightning.
Don't know if that is what it's really called or not?

Actually this is what is typically referred to as heat lightning... ( stole it from a google search result )

"a flash or flashes of light seen near the horizon, especially on warm evenings, believed to be the reflection of distant lightning on high clouds."

Looks as if I get to do this some more... maybe...

Some more storms have come up to my south and is heading NE and should also not come over me... only I don't have as good of a view from here... I need to quickly decide if I'm going to chance it here... or head to the east side of town...

... or maybe not... :D

By the time I just went outside, some low, fast moving clouds got in the way of the storms with the action in them... 6-10 second shots of low fast moving clouds tends to be a bit on the blurry side... not to mention not being able to see any lightning through them.
