probably fortunate I didn't end up in the music biz...I'd make a lot of business people unhappy. I take forever to get something finished. It's too short. Too long. The tempo isn't right. Pitch isn't good. Lemme retune again. Nope, vocals are bad. That 3rd fret G string keeps buzzing. Lemme try a different guitar. Lyrics are bad. Too close to mic. Too far away. Didja hear that truck go by on the highway? Do again. Maybe new strings. Yeah, lets do that. Replay. Adjust. Wait...what was the original take? Maybe that was better...Nope. Start again. New settings. Change pitch. and on, and on, and on...
See my dilemma?
J, that's the sign of an artist, always finding something to correct. Only thing is, most of the time it never should be corrected in the first place. It was good on the first effort. Perfection is not always needed. Everyone takes something away from a completed project differently. They see things different, hear things different from us. Me being satisfied with a painting is an extremely rare event. I always find some things that need changing or are "wrong" with them. But often ya just gotta let it go and move on to the next project. More times then not people don't even see the imperfections in a piece of art unless I point them out and then they say....Oh, I didn't notice that....What irritates us as creators of a piece brings out a range of positive emotions in people we just don't comprehend because we know what we "wanted" to convey. But we thought, "in our minds", we weren't able to achieve it.
Yes, I see your dilemma and I feel your pain Babes. What you do comes from deep within you. Just let it flow, record it,
let us all enjoy it.
