Speakin' of going home... just before I left work, I noticed a huge dragonfly just outside of the main doors where I work...

I'm guessing this bugger has about a 6" wingspan ( give or take a bit ) and probably close to that long also.

To give perspective... The ceiling on the outer "porch" at work is probably close to 16' tall, the light fixture in the shot is probably a foot square.

And the close up shot...

They head straight for your face when you try to shoo them out of the house !
I had one hit me in the forehead, I jumped back, caught the open dishwasher door and fell on it -
broke it of course...good thing I put the knives point down !!

I wished it hadn't been in the shade... This kind usually doesn't have a lot of color, but there is usually at least a little iridescence on the eyes and sometimes the stripes on the body if the sun is able to glint off of it...

I think I'll be taking a break from Twitter. The intelligence level has dropped so far it's absurd. Maybe there should be some sort of licensing test before you're allowed to tweet...

I feel that way with any of the social sites I've been to. On my Twitter, I've been pretty selective in who I follow with the majority being weather and storm chaser related, so I don't see much irrelevant info. Still, having only a small amount of text allowed ( which was the point after all ), not much info can be provided.
