Had quite the full day as it turns out...
The services where really pretty impressive. Pretty much the typical stuff from the pastor but also had the Mason's pay their respects since my Uncle ( aka second cousin actually ) was a 32nd degree as well as a Shriner ( and several other organizations ), clown and stuff. After that during the interment, the Navy did their part with the full military ceremony... aka gun salute and flag folding etc.
After the services, we headed over to the church where they'd fixed up a meal for everyone. Got to visit with everyone that I hadn't seen in a while, many since I was young. Then we headed back to the hotel to get some rest. I decided while I was here, I'd go ahead and check out the Gulf coast and a huge bridge that heads over towards Louisiana.
I texted the folks with what I was planning and Dad texted back... hold on, they wanted to go also. So we headed over to the Sea Rim State Park. It was pretty cloudy still, so I hope the shots I got come out... Got several shots of the birds in the marsh, some of the sea itself and the area in general. Then headed over towards the big bridge to try and get a shot of that while here.
Afterwords, we met up with my Sister and Brother-in-Law for dinner at one of the many steak houses. The 12oz ribeye I got, was probably a good 4-5oz's more than I needed but it was one of the best I've had in ages. Afterwords... we did finally go back to the hotel for the night... happily stuffed to the gills...
BTW... Just in case any of you are in this neck of the woods... Only about half of the street engineers know what N/S and E/W are.... the others, not so much
